A diamond ring awaited Canada's Jennifer Abel at the airport.
Canadian Olympic diver Jennifer Abel couldn't have possibly imagined a better welcome when she touched down in her homeland after having won a silver in Tokyo. A diamond ring and a romantic proposal at the airport awaited her.
Jennifer Abel won a silver medal in the three-metre synchronised diving event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She returned to Canada along with her teammate Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu on Monday.
Waiting to welcome the 29-year-old was her boyfriend and boxer David Lemieux.
In a video that has been shared on the official Olympics Twitter handle, David Lemieux can be seen wasting no time as he goes down on one knee at the Trudeau airport to propose to the silver medallist.

British Columbia sending a record number of athletes to Tokyo Olympics

CSI Pacific, which operates Olympic and Paralympic training centres in Vancouver, Victoria, and Whistler, added that 182 athletes have either benefited from its sport science services, or are a member of the PacificSport Regional Alliance.
CSI Pacific points to several factors as the driving force behind BC’s Olympic prominence, including its own support of high-performance athletes, and viaSport’s promotion of amateur sports.
“Canada’s Olympians come from throughout the province,” CSI Pacific said.
“The widespread range of BC’s athletes is a direct result of the province’s commitment to make community sport accessible to all British Columbians.”

Mastromatteo Starts Olympic Journey Saturday

Gabe Mastromatteo (Provided)
Gabe Mastromatteo will start his Olympic journey later this week.
Mastromatteo, a member of the Kenora Swimming Sharks who currently races for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, will be taking part in three events at the upcoming summer Olympics.
The 19-year-old from Kenora will swim his first event at the Tokyo Olympic Games, the 100m breaststroke, Saturday starting at 5:00 am CST.
The 100m breaststroke will be an incredibly difficult challenge for Mastromatteo as the field of competitors includes defending Olympic champion Adam Peaty. The 26-year-old from Great Britain currently holds both the Olympic and world record times in the event.
