About the Bust of Civil Rights Leader Cesar Chávez in President Biden's Oval Office

The copper bust of the human rights' defender was placed one step away from the desk where the president will sign laws that will change the destiny of millions of people for the next four years, at least.
"President Biden is partnering with César Chávez--that means that the president's heart is very big, he understands the sacrifice of farmworkers," said Dolores Huerta, an activist leader who worked closely with César Chávez.
"But I think that more than that, the importance of that [bust] is that Biden recognizes the contribution that immigrants have made to that nation,” said Paul Chávez.

Darryl Morin, national president of the advocacy group Forward Latino, jumped from his chair when he saw it on TV— a bust of civil and labor rights leader Cesar Chavez just behind President Joe Biden as he signed executive orders.
“I literally jumped out of my chair and yelled ‘That’s Cesar Chavez! Cesar Chavez!’,” said Morin, whose group has taken on civil rights and anti-discrimination causes on behalf of Latinos.
The bust itself quickly attracted attention on social media.

The incoming Biden administration isn’t just changing policy: it’s redecorating the White House too. It’s part pageantry, part politics, part personal – like everything about being president.
During Wednesday’s inauguration ceremonies, the 90-person White House facilities staff began moving the Bidens in a process that reportedly took just five hours.
While the Bidens planned to move in on 20 January, they reportedly won’t dive all the way into personalising the White House or bringing in an interior decorator.

As Joe Biden took the oath of office as the 46th president of the United States yesterday, staffers were rushing to ready the Oval Office for its new occupant. They had only five frenzied hours to finish swapping out artworks and other furnishings before the arrival of the incoming commander-in-chief.
