welcome back. new this morning our first daylight look at the scene of the plane crash reportedly killing yevgeny prigozhin in russia. this is the debris field just outside moscow. it stretches for more than a mile. an eyewitness also speaking out, listen to this. >> translator: i heard an explosion or a bang. usually if an explosion happens on the ground, then you get an echo. but it was just a bang. and i looked up and saw white smoke. one wing flew off in one direction and the fuselage went like that. and then it glided down on one wing. it did a nose dive. i was afraid it would fall into the village. >> russian state media reports, and there are those images for you, that all ten people on board were killed. so far we should note only eight bodies have been found.
it's thursday, the 24th of august. russian authorities say the leader of the wagner mercenary group, who led a brief coup against vladmir putin this summer, was on a plane that crashed near moscow, killing all ten people on board. the kremlin hasn't confirmed yevgeny prigozhin's death, but a social media account linked to his organisation has accused russian air defences of shooting down the aircraft. 0ur russia editor steve rosenberg reports. caught on camera — the final seconds of a private jet. on board, reportedly, the head of the wagner mercenary group, yevgeny prigozhin. since yevgeny prigozhin led that attempted coup in russia and threatened the russian capital itself. you can see that fireball, that fiere devastation on the ground 60 miles outside moss go where yvgeny prigozhin's private jet can be seen in other video, it's spiraling out of the sky with one of its wings very badly damaged if not missing before plunging into the ground in those scenes you can see there coming to us from television. there's the video of the plane hurtling downwards. it was filmed by an eyewitness on the ground. it was on a flight between moscow and the russian city of st. petersburg and crashed shortly after takeoff at about 6:00 local time. that's about 11:00 in the morning eastern time, just after, about 11 minutes past the hour. at the same time, vladimir putin, the russian president,
forward. palestinian ministry of health saying that he was critically injured with a gunshot wound to his head. there has been a massive ongoing manhunt for the shooter behind the attack. we asked israeli forces for a comment about the specific situation. they say they were in beta in this village to apprehend what they call wanted specifics where a riot was instigated. they say rioters hurled blocks and rocks at the forces. and they did use live ammunition. they did say the details of this specific incident are under review. but what we can see from the video is this man shot, he was shot from behind, you can see that he falls forward and the eyewitness says he was unarmed and not participating in the clashes when he was shot. this is all happening during a very alarming increased level of violence in the west bank. we've been reporting on it of course for months now, but the increased level of attacks
shooters and that is when clashes broke out. but what we have from eyewitness testimony and video from the moment this man was shot appears to show that the man was unarmed and shot from behind. you can see a man in white jogging towards another group of men who appear to be trying to help a man on a stretcher. he is shot from behind and he falls forward. an eyewitness that cnn spoke to said that the man was not involved in the clashes, they say that he was unarmed. and in that video, we don't see him carrying anything. not obvious that he is carrying a gun or anything. and the eyewitnesses say it was israeli forces on the scene who shot that person from behind. we've asked the israeli defense forces and border police for a comment. bore didder poder police say it review. they say a riot was instigated and rocks were hurled at the forces and they responded with
