[이데일리 스타in 이석무 기자] NC다이노스와 두산베어스에서 코로나19 확진자가 잇따라 나온 가운데 한국야구위원회(KBO)가 리그 중단 여부를 논의한다.
KBO는 11일 오전 중 10개 구단 단장이 참여하는 실행위원회를 열기로 했다. 지방 경기를 치르는 구단 단장들은 화상으로 회의에 참여할 예정이다.
KBO가 긴급하게 실행위원회를 소집하는 이유는 코로나19 확진자 발생으로 인한 ‘리그 중단’ 문제를 논의하기 위해서다.
프로야구는 현재 코로나19 확진자 발생으로 비상이 걸렸다. 11일 현재 NC에서 3명, 두산에서 2명이 코로나19 확진 판정을 받았다. NC 선수단은 서울 원정 숙소에서 격리 중이며, 두산 선수단은 자택에서 머물고 있다.
현재 NC와 두산 선수단은 방역 당국의 역학 조사가 진행 중이다. 역학 조사 결과가 나오진 않았지만 확진자 모두 경기장 안팎에서 선수단과 접촉이 빈번했다. 추가로 확진자가 나오지 않더라도 밀접접촉자가 대거 발생할 가능성이 크다. 격리대상자가 상당수 나올 전망이다.
이미 NC와 두산은 지난 8일부터 경기를 치르지 못하고 있다. 최근 두 팀과 경기를 펼쳤던 팀들도 경기를 소화하지 못하는 상황이다.
당초 KBO는 리그 중단에 소극적이었다. 코로나19 통합매뉴얼을 바탕으로 “구단 내에 확진자가 나와도 자가격리 대상자를 제외한 대체 선수로 중단 없이 운영할 계획“이라고 밝혔다. 코로나19 특별엔트리 조항도 마련했다.
하지만 현 상황은 리그 진행이 어려운 상황에 이르렀다는 평가다. 두 팀이 이미 확진자 발생으로 일정을 소화하지 못하고 있다. 추가 확진자 발생 가능성도 배제할수 없다. 사회적인 코로나19 확산세도 심각하다.
KBO 통합매뉴얼에는 ‘엔트리 등록 미달 등 리그 정상 진행에 중대한 영향이 있다고 판단하면, 긴급 실행위원회 및 이사회 요청을 통해 리그 중단 여부를 결정할 수 있다’고 돼있다. 리그 중단을 논의하기 위해선 긴급 실행위원회가 열려야 한다.
만약 리그가 중단된다면 그 기간은 3주가 될 전망이다. KBO 통합매뉴얼에도 ‘확진 발생 시부터 3주(자가격리 2주+연습기간 1주)를 고려한다’는 내용이 있다
3주간 리그 중단이 되더라도 실질적인 중단 기간은 1주가 된다. 마침 KBO 리그가 7월 19일부터 8월 9일까지 ’도쿄올림픽 휴식기‘에 들어가기 때문이다. 확진자가 나온 NC, 두산 구단 뿐만 아니라 다른 일부 구단 단장도 리그 중단에 긍정적인 반응을 나타낸 것으로 알려졌다.
