Local area leaders speak at State of the Community luncheon

The Graham Chamber of Commerce hosted its first State of the Community luncheon last week and gathered representatives from local taxing entities to provide updates regarding current and upcoming projects, accomplishments and goals. The event was hosted Tuesday, March 19 as one of the chamber’s quarterly luncheons at North Central Texas College. Speakers were Mayor Alex Heartfield, City Manager Eric Garretty, Graham Regional Medical Center CEO Shane Kernell, Graham ISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse and NCTC Director Dr. Magen Bunyard.

Community members honored in Grahammy awards

The Graham Chamber of Commerce honored business and community members through its Grahammy awards last week held with its annual Chamber Banquet. The banquet was held Thursday, Jan. 18 at the Young County Arena with casino games matching the theme of ‘Graham, where winning is the only option.’

Giving back locally: Five GJHS teams donate over $6,000 to area nonprofits in Hot Chocolicious

Five sixth grade Graham Junior High School teams presented over $6,000 this week to area nonprofits they sponsored in the Graham Chamber of Commerce Hot Chocolicious Competition. During the Hot Chocolicious event, teams of junior high students were set up on the downtown square with booths selling hot chocolate and other various goodies in support of area nonprofits. The teams met Wednesday, Dec. 13 for the finale event at North Central Texas College. The students this year raised a total of $6,350.23.

Chamber opens nominations for Grahammy awards

The Graham Chamber of Commerce opened online Grahammy award nominations this week for those who have gone above and beyond in service and commitment to the community, or in promoting local commerce. The organization annually honors members of the community and businesses through the awards ceremony held in conjunction with the Graham Chamber Banquet. Winners are chosen based on nominations from the community. All nominations are reviewed by a committee consisting of chamber board members who select the final winners.

Lighting up the night: Christmas parade, stroll, Hot Chocolicious next week

The Graham Chamber of Commerce ‘Hallmark in my Hometown’ Christmas parade and stroll and Hot Chocolicious events are kicking off the holiday season in Graham next week on the downtown square. The night of festivities will be held Thursday, Nov. 30 with the stroll from 5-7 p.m. and the lighted parade starting at 7 p.m. The Hot Chocolicious event will be held from 5:30-7 p.m.

Downtown delights: Hot Chocolicious competition heats up with six teams

Six local junior high teams are preparing to compete in the event of the season, when each sets up shop on the square with sales of hot chocolate and various other goodies in support of area nonprofits. Since 2016, the Graham Chamber of Commerce Hot Chocolicious program has raised over $30,000 for area nonprofit organizations. The program has student teams organize a hot chocolate business, build a stand and display their products for sale alongside the chamber’s annual Christmas stroll and lighted parade which will be held Thursday, Nov. 30.
