M Destinee Howard of Gillett has been named a Spectrum Scholar, Charter Communications Inc. s annual college scholarship program for underrepresented students with financial need. Howard will receive a $20,000 scholarship, be assigned a Charter Communications Inc. mentor and have the opportunity to pursue an internship at one of the company s corporate offices in Stamford, Conn.; Charlotte; St. Louis; or Denver. She will be attending North Carolina A&T State University, a public, historically black land-grant research university in Greensboro, N.C., and major in marketing

M Hailey Hoog, Anna Mathis and Sophie McAdara three juniors from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville have been selected as finalists for the 2023 Harry S. Truman Scholarship. Hoog, an Honors College Fellow from Jenks, Okla., is majoring in biomedical engineering in the College of Engineering. Mathis, an honors student from Harrison, is majoring in agricultural education, communications and technology with concentrations in communications and leadership in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences. McAdara, an honors political science major, is from Branson, Mo.
