Good evening to you.
That was the word from Dr. Theresa Tam, the country’s chief public health officer during today’s COVID-19 update. Thanks to strict public health measures and vaccine rollout that’s ramped up, “things have taken a great turn for the better,” she said. The national case count is the lowest it’s been in weeks, with some 25 million vaccine doses in arms helping to drive that “strong and steady decline.” Today, about 62 per cent of adults have had at least one dose.

Good evening to you.
We begin today with vaccine passports — which still have no arrival date. Ottawa isn’t saying when it will allow Canadians to resume travelling freely, even though allies, with whom it’s been working to create a system of compatible vaccine passports, plan to ease their own travel restrictions soon.

Good evening to you.
Ottawa plans to announce who will replace Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin as the head of Canada’s vaccine rollout as soon as Monday, according to two government sources. The sources, who iPolitics assured it wouldn’t name in order for them to share information they otherwise wouldn’t be able to, are well-connected to the decision about who will takeover for Fortin, the rollout’s original logistics’ operator and planner, who stepped down Friday night, “pending the results of a military investigation,” as the Department of National Defence said in a press release.
