Good evening to you.
Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole announced his party’s climate plan today, which includes a price on carbon that he refused to acknowledge is what his party has called a “carbon tax” for the last decade. He said the proposal is not a carbon tax because Ottawa does not collect the tax and the consumer price on carbon would fund a personal low-carbon savings account, O’Toole said. Canadians could use the savings from this account for green purchases, like bicycles, transit passes or electric vehicles. “This is not a tax — not a cent goes to Ottawa.”

Good evening to you.
They’re after per-dose prices, more precise delivery schedules, any mentions of the possibility of Canadian manufacturing — and anything else that might shine a light on the Liberal government’s intensely scrutinized vaccine-procurement process. But Procurement Minister Anita Anand has refused to publish the contracts, citing the confidentiality clauses that apply to them.

“We must all speed up.” That was the word today from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, commenting on Canada’s vaccination rollout. He said the provinces have been “very clear” that they feel vaccination is “something that they’re able to handle on their own.” But if they need help, it is there for the taking —  a message he planned to relay to Ontario Premier Doug Ford, whose government’s pace of administering COVID shots has fallen behind Ottawa’s rate of delivery, when they spoke this afternoon.
