movement and so i got my easter suit on because their attempt to crucify democracy has really resurrected a movement here in tennessee, a movement that is multiracial and intergenerational, and that's really going to transform tennessee in the south. how is all of this? this experience changed your mind set of viewing your role, you know, even just a few weeks ago before the covenant school shooting two now given everything. i think it's just it shows that we need more representatives who will stand with the people who are willing to risk a title to be with the people to stand with the people. and so we need bold leadership. we need to fight for our communities. you know, these young people are demanding that we take action for common sense gun laws. we need to respond to them, and we need to respond to these assault on democracy with progressive, bold voices. and so i'm honored to stand here as a representative district 52 once again a few days later, because what that's what it's about is that the people of my district 70,000 people in our community in the most diverse district in tennessee. we must represent them. we must speak for them in these halls of power and not

again on the same grounds as before are those concerns gone now? are all those matters settle as far as you can tell >> yes, well, you know, that i yes, yet to be determined. i'm grateful that my attorney, one of whom includes, the team includes former attorney general eric holder who sent a letter at 10 am central to the house speaker, informing the that they do not, you know, se any obstruction of me, representing the people of district 52. they sent a letter, puttin them on notice, we would respond if that was the case and i think that had a big impact on the speaker, as well as the thousands of people gathered here today, multiracial, intergenerational gathered from the metr courthouse to the legislature, to let them know that the worl is watching, and we're not going to allow their attacks t happen in silence. and we're still calling fo action on common sense gun laws that's what this was all about in the beginning and so, the speaker's threat against our democracy are bein met with this resurrection of multi racial democracy and it's really here happening

marching down the street right in front of me to the people's house. i got sworn in, um, immediately outside by one of our judges here in nashville and walked into the people's house. and it was a very emotional day. um and in an exhausting day, but also hopeful day. what we saw today was was the people saying that we're not going to allow the attacks on democracy, letting this building by speaker cameron's sexton and his leadership group to happen in the comfort of silence, but that we will respond with a mass movement and so i got my easter suit on because their attempt to crucify democracy has really resurrected a movement here in tennessee, a movement that is multiracial and intergenerational, and that's really going to transform tennessee in the south. how is all of this? this experience change your mindset of viewing your role, you know. even just a few weeks ago before the covenant school shooting two now given everything. i think it's just it shows that we need more representatives who will stand with the people who are willing to risk a title to be with the people to stand with the people. and so we need bold leadership.

action network convention in new york vice president harris and others will be talking about gun violence we'll certainly try to have you guys come up the issue of gun violence crosses racial lines because you were protesting at a school that was not an hbcu. this is covenant school. these people insensitive about kids their own race, 9 years old. what has impressed me about the protest and some of us may be joining you monday, is the intergenerational and interracial aspect of the protest. i saw people of all races and ages out there every day standing up, including yesterday. address the universal nature of why you're so concerned about gun control and how this is an issue you've become the symbol of but goes into everyone's household? >> definitely. thank you so much, reverend sharpton i mooean, this issue that droveu to the well was trying to say we don't want our children gunned down in schools.

that's what this was about when we have thousands of young people come to the state capitol saying, we want to live. do you hear us do something and my colleagues wouldn't hear the issue. we wouldn't bring it up. the speaker cut off our microphones if we talked about gun violence we went to the well and got in good trouble because we had no other choice or l aalternative. this has been the largest protest in nashville in a decade it is multi-racial, intergenerational, because people are saying that our children are not worth these weapons of war on our streets. we can pass common sense gun laws, the majority of tennessee is in support. rather than an assault weapons ban, they've assaulted democracy. i represented a part of nashville, and we're still grieving we're still mourning a week later, we were asking for action it is not to pass gun laws, they want to expel the two youngest black lawmakers in the state of tennessee. it's wrong. >> representative jones, this is gene robinson. what -- is there a possibility,
