In July: Biel Festival with Pragg, Keymer and a revamped format

The 57th edition of the Biel Chess Festival will take place on July 13-26 with its usual mix of elite tournaments, amateur events and attractive side activities. Remarkably, this edition will see two Triathlons taking place simultaneously: the Masters and the Challengers. Praggnanandhaa, Vincent Keymer and Le Quang Liem are the top seeds in the main event.

The FIDE Trainers Commission is pleased to announce the winners of the 15th FIDE Trainer Awards 2023 and the Yuri Averbakh / Isaac Boleslavsky Award for the best book published in 2022. Fabiano Caruana became the 2023 Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz champion after a dramatic final day of blitz, which came down to a winner-take-all last round game against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. Robson Wins Rapids in GCT Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz

The last leg of the 2023 Grand Chess Tour kicked off Tuesday, November 14, in Saint Louis with the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz at the Saint Louis Chess Club. The Sinquefield Cup takes over next Tuesday, November 21, with six of the same ten participants playing in the classical Round Robin.

St. Louis Rapid and Blitz, Day 2: Robson sole leader

The second day of rapid started off slow with ten straight draws, before an explosive final round left GM Ray Robson at the top of the standings after an important win over GM Alireza Firouzja. Grand Chess Tour final in St Louis

The first round of the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz will take place on 14 November. This will be followed by three days of rapid chess and two days of blitz. After a short break, the Sinquefield Cup, a ten-player round-robin with classical time control, begins on 21 November. Last year's match between Magnus Carlsen and Hans Niemann caused quite a stir.
