We are in Lincoln Theater in this theater. This was the only place where black folks could calm and be entertained in the theater because they couldnt go downtown. They would come right here. This theater was nearly demolished by a wrecking bull, almost torn down but we saved it renovated it and its now one of the jewels of the city of columbus. History tonight. History in the future, the intersection. Wil haygood who was raised in columbus, went to east high school, played basketball. Everything he learned in life he learned it here in the city of columbus. So what would it take of that change through bring live fourth to the naacp . Different lawyers had different strategies a different kind of period in history. Maybe the naacp lawyers dont have to try as many of the cases that marshall tried because there are more civil rights lawyers me that to that kind of work is needed very badly with some epic Voting Rights cases. Each generation in finance its own best lawyers. And i do think commercial would think about barack obama and Clarence Thomas . Read that as a loaded question. Thing about thurgood and how important he was to the country for africanamericans, for those who wanted to go to law school. I was a part of that generation who looked up to and believed in him and was inspired by him that ii to someday could go to law school and become a lawyer. And there is a whole generation of people just like me who have gone on to do that because of the bravery and the courage of Thurgood Marshall. So tonight we are here together this evening.
