sarah we'll see you a little bit later on. scary is working on a story about the sheriff. i want to bring in dan simon in rose burg for us this evening. dan, you have been talking to investigators, what have think been telling you? >> don, at this point they are not prepared to discuss motive or what may have been going on in this young man's life but what they will say is this is somebody that had an krin edible amount of firepower. there were six guns recovered and seven more received at his home, the home he shared with his mother. there was also a flak jacket that actually had body armor and five magazine clips. when you add it up, he was intent on killing a lot of people going in ready for battle and took steps apparently to protect himself, don. >> you've told us about that but there are reports, dan, that the gunman left behind some writings. do you know more about that?
or what may have been going on in this young man's life. they do say he possessed an incredible amount of fire power. at the school, they found six guns. at his house that he shared with his mother, they found seven weapons. there was also a flak jacket at the scene. a flak jacket that actually had body armour. there were five magazine clips. so clearly, when you add it all up, this is somebody who was prepared for battle. he was intent on killing a lot of people and apparently took steps to protect himself. don? >> thank you very much. now i want to turn to the hero of the oregon campus shooting. when chris mintz heard gunfire, he jumped into action trying to save lives. his aunt says he tried to keep the gunman from getting in and was shot three times. he looked at the gunman and said it's my son's birthday today and he was shot once more.
