story you're tracking in terms of the three missing women. what's the latest there? >> reporter: so it's two texas sisters and their friend. they have been missing for over two weeks now sinces they first crossed -- since they first crossed in to mexico. as you can imagine, their families are terrified right now. they believe the women were potentially kidnapped. we'll take a look at their photos. a 47-year-old marisa, her older sister marina and their 53-year-old friend dora. they first crossed in to mexico back on february 24th. again, more than two weeks ago. we're told they were heading to a flea market to el some clothes. but after -- to sell some clothes, but they have not been seen or heard from since. montemorelos is about 3 hours south of the border. mexican authorities taking lead on this investigation, and now texas dps is putting out a

three women have been missing now for over two weeks, neil, and the fbi says it cannot comment on this investigation. i've been in touch with them today, and i just got off the phone with the assistant police chief penitsa, texas, not far, just west of mcallen. they gave us these mexican be on alert pictures. you see two sisters, marina and marisa, along with their friend dora. now, they crossed into mexico on february 24th enroute to sell clothing at a flea market located just southeast of the mexican city of monterey. the three were reported missing on februaryth -- 28th when the families reported it to the penitas police. these families are worried these women would have possibly been kidnapped. they were last seen traveling in

knock on your door, hallie. >> a sigh of relief on that. thanks. out west things have been dangerous and deadly, and the storms in california are still not letting up. this is affecting the whole state from san francisco all the way down to san diego. you're seeing some of the images on your screen here, mud slides, flooding, trees down, emergency rescues, everywhere. you can see there are people of stranded, people having to be pulled to safety. we're hearing last hour 18 people in all so far have been killed in the horrific weather that california has seen over the last two weeks. officials estimating the damage could cost more than $1 billion to fix, and this is not over with. the bay area is getting hit with more rain and are bracing for what could come later in the week. we have more now from forestville, california. marisa, talk us through it. >> reporter: hey, hallie. you said it yourself. this has been costly in every single way, not just in dollars

deadly weather that is showing no sign of letting up. tens of thousands of people forced to evacuate to escape what you're seeing here. this is not just dangerous weather we're talking about. it is killing people. at least 15 so far in this string of storms. california just can't catch a break with crews rushing to rescue people like that little boy. bring us up to speed, marisa. >> reporter: so as you can see behind me, there is still a lot of clean up to be done. we're still expecting more rain. right now, we have break in the clouds where we are just south of santa cruz, but if you look further north and south, there are part of the state that are getting battered by thunderstorms out of and on. so streets like this still in the process of getting cleaned up. like you said, they can't seem to catch a break here. as they're trying to clean up, they get more rain. what we're seeing, as soon as it's safe to do so, i'll have my

marisa, i appreciate you making time to be a part of this conversation. it's stunning to see the pictures from the border communities, specifically in el paso. this pile up of people to say nothing about so many others coming from those central american and sosh american countries right now to try to get to the united states. what are you hearing and what is the situation like right now now that we have this new order? >> the reality is complex at this moment. the folks in el paso have been doing so much work to try to make sure people have had the necessiies they met on a regular basis. we're seeing more and more people coming to the region, specifically trying to be able to seek protection. they have been waiting in pandemic era policy for two years now and we have pent up demand. so these ebbs ask flows of people is becoming greater and greater. we see more ask more people
