over the next few days. nothing too dramatic. gorgeous sunshine and the temperatures being cranked up is what people want, we will see a bit of that. the headline for today is a mixed one. for most of us it be a better story when compared to yesterday when we saw, you know, a lot of rain, it was cloudy, we're still seeing some rain and have a lot of rain, it was cloudy, we're still seeing some rain and heavy showers this morning, but in equal measure, sunny spells, if not more of those today. eyes to the south, very little going on down here and that is because this is an area of high pressure. this is the main story for us over the next couple of days, weatherwise. notice this weather front still hanging on in parts of east anglia, and the south—east of england as well. but that is on the way out. here is to close—up view. behind it, heavy showers, you might have heard thunderstorms overnight, we saw plenty of those over the past 24 we saw plenty of those over the past 2a hours. a few more are likely today, you can notice this line from parts of scotland to the north of england and the midlands, down towards the south—east. if you

across eastern coastal county areas of england and the chance of the odd shower in the mountains of scotland, but warmer than it has been for a while for many of us, temperatures up to 23 in london and glasgow. the high is still centred up across the uk on tuesday. a very similar story, perhaps a bit more cloud, feeding into central parts of england through tuesday and perhaps a bit more of an easterly breeze along the south coast. but temperatures nearly reaching average figures for the time of year, 2a there in glasgow and 22 or 23 degrees across southern england. they really did lag behind last week. high pressure moves a little, though, wednesday into thursday at the moment, it looks like. it pushes to the north of us and it shifts the winds across the eastern side of the uk. coming in off the relatively cooler north sea. that does mean for eastern counties the temperatures are likely to nudge back a little and we could see some thicker cloud clinging to the north sea coast, particularly by the time we get into thursday. wednesday, though, we're still looking at 2a degrees, with

morning tomorrow, or this morning, actually, 4:00 a.m. sunday. and it continues to push to the north, eventually makes landfall once we get to 2:00 in the afternoon. notice that new york continues to get socked by really heavy rainfall. we have already picked up multiple inches. and henri isn't even close yet. we'll continue to add to those totals. in fact, pretty much all of new england will continue to pick up really heavy rainfall. in addition, we have a full moon, so we have astronomical high tides, which is higher than normal tides because of the moon. then henri's approach is going to coincide with the regular high tide. for that reason we have storm surge warnings up for pretty much the entire coast of southern new england as well as the coastline of new york. we could see that storm surge get all the way up to five feet in spots. >> all right, tyler, thanks for the update, tyler mauled dip.

they're able to get ahead of the power outages that are there, start to restore them. the big concern is and always has been the amount of rain we're going to see. not just in the new york city area. northern new jersey which could see 14 inches but extending up and to the north and northeast as the system only moving 9 miles per hour, puts on its breaks and makes that dog leg to the right. so it's not over with, but at least good news with not seeing the number of power outages that were expected with the winds. surges over with. rain is going to go on for a while. it's a deadly situation in the cities. many of them in the northeast corridor. >> yeah. tom, a lot of communities are getting soaked right now. that is something we absolutely have to stay on top of. tom, thank you so much. a quick programming note. sitcoms are the ultimate comedy comfort food. what sitcoms offer escape from and to offer a lot about the state of mind and the sitcom itself. here's a preview of "the history
