don't know. there is no specific procedure on this. i think the better argument is everyone is on their own, because the law is designed to protect federal officials, not random co-defendants who happen to be charged along with them. >> let's talk about one of the defendants who wants a very speedy trial, two months. >> this is, by the way, not a typo. october of 2023, less than two months from now. this is a -- kenneth chesebro. really important development. under georgia law, if you are a defendant and you insist on a speedy trial, speedy trial belongs to the defendant, you must be tried by the end of the next court term, which here means before november. kenneth chesebro said i want my speedy trial. fani willis said, fine, we'll see your speedy trial, we'll see you october 23rd and the judge said, okay, that's when we'll do your trial. fani willis said, in fact, i'll try all 19 of you on october 23rd, but me just say, that's not happening. >> they have a right to contest that. >> exactly. you have a right to say i want my speedy trial, but if you need

moves in their best interest and not necessarily together. today, we also saw sidney powell, one of those attorneys working with donald trump in the aftermath of the 2020 election say that she wants a speedy trial in the fulton county superior court. another one of these defendants, ken chaz roe, previously told the judge that. he had his court date set for october of 2023. the judge, though, made clear he was setting that for chaz roe, not everyone.we will see what he does for this. >> sara, i mentioned the next major hearing in this case monday. tell us what we expect to see them. >> reporter: this is going to be interesting, because it's an evidentiary hearing for mike meadows to try to move his case to federal court he's also asked the federal court to just dismiss all the charges against him. so, we've seen people work flying ahead of this area, and we've seen the district attorney's office lining up potential witnesses that they could call as part of the case that they want to make. among them is brad

this in georgia, he wanted a speedy trial and the judge said okay, we could get the ball rolling. we could move ahead in october 2023. one of the things that the judge said in this order, though, is at this time, these deadlines do not apply to any co-defendant. making clear that he's going to set this trial date, but for ken cheesebro only. now within the last hour or two, we also saw sidney powell, another one of the attorneys who was working with donald trump in the aftermath of the election, again, going to court and say she also would like a speedy trial. so we're waiting for the judge to weigh in on that the timeline for her. this calls into question what the timeline is going to be for all of the rest of the defendants in this case. the d.a. said we're ready to go. we could bring everyone to trial in october of 2023. a time line other attorneys have thought was unrealistic and we've seen trump's team say they don't think that is realistic and they don't want to go with that date, wolf. >> as you know, another one of trump's co-defendants just have a bail hearing.

trump legal operation and the trump political operation. let's look at the trials that we know of. one being in october of 2023. that's the first one. this is the trump company civil fraud suit. this is brought by new york attorney general. then january 15th, e. jean carroll defamation trial. january 29th, a federal class action suit that accuses trump and his company of promoting a pyramid scheme. and then march 25, 2024, a trial in that alleged hush money scheme. again, all of these being critical moments. the one thing to note is that we don't know which of these trump will have to appear at. but, again, it goes to show you that these things cannot be separated. as we reported earlier this week, that is part of the trump playbook. they want to be running on his legal issues. >> this is tricky. if i'm a presidential candidate, i don't want to be dealing with filing my taxes. i'm going to outsource everything that i can during this season. jeff, this just speaks to all of this hanging over this political race. and let's take a look at where

process sense comparing people how they have been treated to the way others have been treated. that's not what aboutism. that is what we do in the law. that's what it's about. listening to your conversation about the hunter biden situation, one thing occurred to me. everybody should have in mind, october of 2023. hunter biden made a false statement in a federal gun form in october of 2018. you want to talk about like all of these other cases? it would take a competent prosecutor about five days, not five years, five days to put that case together. they have had it for five years. the statute of limitations runs in october. that's what's going on here. >> martha: this is a simple case, the trump case. the other one should have been done in five weeks. i just want to mention that the president as of a few minutes ago left the courtroom. the motorcade is leaving the courthouse in about three minutes. that should be about now.

plus, a state judge in new york set a trial date for the new york attorney general's suit scheduled for october of 2023. just in time for the presidential election. and there's more. senator lindsey graham was forced to testify before the special georgia grand jury investigating trump's effort to reverse the 2020 results there and the former trump chief of staff mark meadows lost a bid. with me to sort through it are evan perez and carrie cordero and also joining us is caitlin polantz. where to begin. let's start with the taxes debate. trump has fought for years. he kept saying he would release. he has fought to keep them private. the house has them and in the trump organization trial under way in new york right now, the testimony said that he didn't

asking the supreme court to put this matter beyond legal doubt. i hope we get an outcome from the supreme court that allows us to take forward a referendum on the timescale i set out yesterday and have that on the 19th of october next year. the first minister has said that if the supreme court did go to a hearing and it ruled in the scottish government's favour, they would move to pass the 5—page referendum bill very quickly and move forward on its plans for a referendum in october of 2023, which would be nine years, one month and one day since the last one. if they didn't rule in favour of the scottish government's plans for the second independence referendum, herthird for the second independence referendum, her third strategy would be to make the next general election a de facto referendum on scottish

maniacal fashion didn't like the way you said something, lindsey. what do you say then? what do you do then? were you lying when you stood in the well of the congress and said the things that were just played in the clip, or are you lying now, lying to yourself? that's where we are. the question is, how are you -- those folks out here watching, listening, taking all of this in s. how do you respond to it? every sign tells me, ari, these people are about to reelect these republicans and put them back in charge of the house, potentially put them back in charge of the senate, and are damned sure lining up to bring donald trump back in, and what will you say on january 23rd or october of 2023, when donald trump is purging people in retribution for the big lie he told.

acquire advanced conventional technology? in october of 2023 the restrictions on iran's missile program go away. is it a good thing that iran's missile program falls away from united nations oversight? i don't think so. but i think that's a dialogue that should take place with congress and the administration and most importantly a bipartisan, calm response should be placed forward. >> anne-marie? >> i don't disagree with the what here, that iran is behaving badly in the region, but i deeply disagree with the how. indeed the president's only national security team, general mattis, general mcmaster, they agree on the value of the jpoa and the way we should be doing this is both with congress but also with our allies. as david says, splitting ourselves off from the europeans and allowing the russians and others to say you violated the agreement is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing. we need to, as we've done successfully before, point others to where iran is misbehaving in the region and
