I dont know San Francisco without ed lee. He has been a part of everything. At one time he was the human rights director. He was the head of purchasing in my administration. He was the head of public works in my administration. He became the cao for the city. I participated in helping him become the mayor when mr. Newsom moved on to become the Lieutenant Governor, so i cant manual the city without ed lee. Mayor lee was surrounded by family and Staff Members overnight. Many were in tears at the night wore on and they learned of his death just after 1 00 in the morning. All the supervisors were also called to the hospital. I am really struck by that that you are willing to go back to it did that feel risky to you . It did. I had a colleague try to talk me out of it. Claire, really you shouldnt go there. You shouldnt tell people about that. They flagged several things. Yes they flagged several pages of things in the book. But that wasnt really what this was about.
