Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were told they could not be half in the Royal Family after their decision to step away from their senior roles. It has since been compared to King Edward VIII who abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, UK correspondent Max Colchester, said: "They couldn't have it both ways because people in the palace fear that they would effectively overshadow some of the other royals."

The Queen made history on May 17, 2011, when she became the first reigning British monarch to visit the Republic of Ireland.
Her grandfather King George V was the last British king to tour the region, back to when the full island was part of the United Kingdom.
During her three-day visit alongside Prince Philip, the Queen delivered a speech at Dublin Castle in which she spoke about the past conflict between the islands.
She said: "Indeed so much of this visit reminds us of the complexity of our history, its many layers and traditions, but also the importance of forbearance and conciliation, of being able to bow to the past but not be bound by it.

It is widely accepted that former Mr Wilson and Queen Elizabeth II got on incredibly well. Mr Wilson and Her Majesty were much closer in age than her previous Prime Ministers – Winston Churchill, Anthony Eden, Harold Macmillan and Alec Douglas-Home – and the Yorkshireman was said to be more relaxed than his predecessors when it came to his meetings with the sovereign. Though the Queen's audiences with her Prime Ministers have always been, by their nature, business associations, Mr Wilson enjoyed what he referred to as a "relaxed intimacy" with the monarch.

He told reporters after the UK visit: "It's not just Congress. Even some foreign leaders, they have been looking ahead, anticipating my departure.
"Last week Prince George showed up to our meeting in his bathrobe. That was a slap in the face.
"A clear breach of protocol."
During the trip in April 2016, the Obamas also met then-Prime Minister David Cameron, who played golf with Barack, as they struck up another warm friendship.

Queen told to sack royal aide over Royal Family's response to Meghan Markle's interview | Royal | News

Two days after the interview aired in the US, Buckingham Palace released a short statement on behalf of the Queen on Tuesday this week.
The statement read: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.
“While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”

Royal Family scandal covered up by Harold Wilson as he helped Queen with shock resignation

Mr Wilson’s resignation was unusual because, for most of his party and the general public, the announcement came "from out of the blue", and was not, seemingly, prompted by any obvious health issues.
The unexpected nature of his departure gave rise to various conspiracy theories, and suspicion in some quarters that his resignation was forced.
To this day there's a lack of consensus on the "real" explanation for why he left.
A researcher in the field of neurology published work suggesting that Mr Wilson, who had been living with cancer for years before his death in 1995, was actually struggling with Alzheimer's disease while still in office.
