a demonstration in los angeles. >> yes, sir. >> the protest itself was fine. >> uh-huh. >> what happened after you left? >> so, just a little bit of backstory, because i don't want to paint the picture that me and my friends were completely in the right, but one of my friends, in order to protect her privacy, she put a piece of black tape over her license plate, because a lot of people were recording throughout the protest. so, immediately following the protest, we get pulled over by two squad cars, three officers in total. they're calling for backup, and another four squad cars and about nine more officers pull up. and there's five black children sitting on the sidewalk, with six squad cars, 12 police officers and what concerned me was there was a crowd gathering in the street, about 30 people. to make a long story short, after all the police officers ended up leaving, the people were running up to us, hey, we just had a rally today. we don't need any more hash tags. and that struck me to my core. i was five seconds away from possibly being another hash tag. >> how are the students in
the house for yesterday, had a moment of silence, prayed and asked to recognize to read the names of afghanistan legislation and refuse to recognize them. jillian: others are recognizing get them. >> check this out from the kissimmee police department they used 13 squad cars to form the shape of a hard to honor fallen servicemembers who died in afghanistan, posting this with certain patrol cars for the 13 service men and women who lost their lives in afghanistan. our heart goes out to the family and friends, may they rest in peace never be forgotten. the police chief -- a lot of everyday americans are doing things to honor these people, the pictures went viral of 13 beards, they are placing about an empty table. those things mean a lot to the family.
people. it was very distressing for me as a black woman that lives in minneapolis, who has been out on the front lines to witness the statement by his mother. in terms of the question that you raised earlier about the aggravating circumstances involving three or more officers being present. i think that aggravating factor speaks to what some of us feel is a gang culture mentality that exists within parts of many police departments. where you have a squad car that shows up on the scene. maybe they are dealing with someone in a judicious manner. suddenly when multiple squad cars show up, there is more attention and sometimes that leads to brutality on the parts of those officers. if we think back to what happened with rodney king, very similar in terms of multiple officers kicking and beating a black man lying in the prone position. >> we should note we're about four minutes behind schedule here in terms of the return of judge peter cahill to give that
