for the first time in more than 140 years. it was discovered in rocks dating back between 66 and 145 million years. the species belongs to the plant—eating ankylosaur group. earlier, we spoke to the lead author of the study, stuart pond from the natural history museum. it is very exciting. this is the first ankylosaur on the isle of wight since 1865, 140 years since it was written up. to find there is another ankylosaur on the island is quite significant. it has implications for how we understand the dinosaur fauna of the island. and ankylosauria as a family. we look very closely at the bones and we study them and do all the measuring and the quantifying of them and then we compare them
