Dancing Sky Theatre Continues to Manage COVID and Provide Live Entertainment

By Carol Thomson
May 27, 2021 | 10:26 AM
Dancing Sky Theatre in Meacham figured out a way last year to continue live performances by moving outdoors to a newly built amphitheatre, and now Fireside Stories II begins on Thursday. Saskatoon actor, Kent Allen, says each artist or group has a different story to tell.
His story comes from his dad, who wrote about his experience growing up in the Prairies in the Dirty Thirties. Allen’s dad never told the family about his experiences, but decided to write it down back in the 1980s.
Allen says, “For Prairie people in terms of the 1930’s, there is a shared experience for many, and so telling it now during these difficult times, I think is terribly appropriate.”

Dear ER:
Is it just me or do all the current Hermosa Beach City Council members and all the council candidates for Hany Fangary’s replacement seem exactly the same in their point of view? What’s going on? I prefer to hear different opinions and to have lively discussions on the council. Seems like we are only looking for like-minded puppets for the environmental lawyers on council. All groups need to be represented, and not all residents agree with what has been happening to this city under the strong arm rule of Councilperson Justn Massey. While environmental concerns are important, there are other equally significant issues to address. Hermosa doesn’t have to become a single issue town. The council is starting to seem like the Stepford Wives.

An enviable outdoor entertainment space was created that includes a lounge area, firepit and a built-in outdoor kitchen.
One of the benefits of the house is its location, with access to the new two-car garage from a street in the rear.
The main floor is now a large open-concept space, containing the living room, kitchen and dining room. Previously, it was chopped up into four small rooms.

A war of words erupted Tuesday as Hermosa Beach City Council members tangled with dozens of residents during a discussion of the future of the Greenbelt, called by some “the crown jewel of the city.”
At issue was the funding of a study that officials hope will “determine the feasibility of installing an accessible surface path on the Greenbelt to provide a firm, natural looking path that increases accessibility for the disabled and boosts accessibility for all,” according to a staff report.
Diversity of opinion was articulated early in the debate by residents Kent Allen and Raymond Jackson.
