Is the U.S. Navy Getting Ready to Dump Its Aircraft Carriers?

Is the U.S. Navy Getting Ready to Dump Its Aircraft Carriers?
Rep. Elaine Luria, a former Navy nuclear-qualified surface warfare officer, contended that the Pentagon shouldn’t consider reducing the carrier force and that defense spending should be further boosted.
The Pentagon is open to the possibility of reducing the aircraft carrier force as part of the fiscal year 2022 budget submission to Congress.
According to the U.S. Naval Institute (USNI), in order to meet a proposed $704 billion to $708 billion topline figures for President Joe Biden’s first Department of Defense budget, the Office of the Secretary of Defense is currently seeking to cut costs by reducing the carrier force.

Qatar Petroleum, leading LNG players sign multi-party deal to develop new LNG carrier designs

Doha: Qatar Petroleum, along with several leading international LNG players, signed a multi-party agreement with LNT Marine, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) to collaborate on the development of new medium and large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier designs.
The agreement paves the way for the establishment of a Joint Industry Project (JIP) that targets the development of new LNG carrier designs utilizing the LNT A-BOX LNG cargo containment system. Other signatories to the Agreement include Qatargas and affiliates of ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Shell and Total.
The LNT A-BOX LNG cargo containment system is a new design that has recently been deployed on the 45,000 m3 new built ABS-classed vessel ‘Saga Dawn,’ which entered commercial service in the second quarter of 2020.

The Navy Loves Massive Aircraft Carriers. What About 'Mini-Carriers'?

Is it time for medium aircraft carriers?
Here's What You Need to Remember: The story isn’t over. The costs of the new Ford-class carriers have even seapower advocates as Sen. John McCain searching for alternatives: in January 2017, the Arizona senator released a white paper, “Restoring American Power,” that called for a “high/low mix” of aircraft carriers, possibly involving a variant of the America-class amphibious transport equipped with the short-takeoff and vertical-landing version of the Joint Strike Fighter. As long as the United States buys aircraft carriers, the high/low mix debate will continue.
The United States Navy’s ten nuclear supercarriers are the largest warships on the high seas. Home to more than five thousand sailors and Marines, the Nimitz-class carriers are nuclear-powered and can carry nearly ninety combat aircraft. Still, it didn’t have to be this way: had the Navy taken a different tack several decades ago, the gigantic ships would have been supplemented with smaller, more cost effective flattops—the Medium Aircraft Carriers.

City approves franchise agreement with US Cellular

The Hermiston city council approved a franchise agreement during their Monday, March 8, meeting to allow U.S. Cellular to place small cell wireless technology used for 5G cell phone coverage around the city.
Cellphone carriers, internet service providers and other telecommunication companies pay fees known as franchise fees to place their technology on city rights of way. The five-year agreement approved Monday, which will allow a company known as Oregon RSA#2 to place the small cell technology on behalf of U.S. Cellular to bring faster upload and download speeds to customers in the area, is the first for the city for this type of technology.
