All six English clubs dramatically abandoned plans to join a European Super League today, imploding the breakaway project with Spanish and Italian counterparts within 48 hours of the announcement.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham deserted the plans for a largely-closed midweek competition amid an escalating backlash from their supporters and warnings from UK government that legislation could be introduced to thwart them.

'Turkey Will Defend Syria's Territorial Integrity'
Meeting with Qatari, Russian counterparts, top Turkish diplomat vows to continue fighting terror groups in Syria like YPG/PKK.
Turkey will continue to defend Syria's territorial integrity and protect civilians in the war-torn country, including from terrorist groups, Turkey's foreign minister said in the Qatari capital Doha on Thursday.
"Turkey will continue to defend Syria's territorial integrity, protect civilians, and fight terror groups," Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a trilateral meeting with the Qatari and Russian foreign ministers.
Cavusoglu said he and his counterparts discussed how to promote lasting peace in Syria.
He also said that the terrorist YPG/PKK continues to launch attacks in northern Syria, near the Turkish border, claiming more than 25 civilians over the last two months.

Ranitha Gnanarajah, a Sri Lankan lawyer and civil activist, has been included in this year's list of 14 International Courageous Women award presented annually by the US State Department.
On Monday, March 8, at 10:00 a.m., Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will host the annual International Women of Courage (IWOC) Awards virtual ceremony to honor a group of extraordinary women from around the world, including an honorary award for seven women leaders and activists from Afghanistan who were assassinated for their dedication to improving the lives of Afghans.
The First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden will deliver remarks to recognize the courageous accomplishments of these women.

Contribution to parliamentary agenda: Female MPs outsmart their counterparts: FAFEN report

ISLAMABAD: Constituting only 20 percent of the Parliament, women lawmakers contributed 28 percent parliamentary agenda during 2020-2021, according to a report released by FAFEN.
The women parliamentarians’ performance matched, or in some instances exceeded, the performance of their male colleagues in both agenda contribution and attendance.
The report stated that on average, each female MNA attended 76 percent assembly sittings and sponsored eight agenda items whereas each male MNA attended 60 percent sittings and sponsored five agenda items.
Similarly, each female senator attended 67 percent sittings and sponsored three agenda items whereas each male senator attended 60 percent sittings and sponsored four agenda items. Of 65 non-performing parliamentarians, only seven – four MNAs and three senators – were female.
