Important: How MIS-C Syndrome Affects Children Post COVID-19

Important: How MIS-C Syndrome Affects Children Post COVID-19
Though the exact cause for this syndrome has not been concluded yet, it appears that it is the result of an excessive immune response related to COVID-19.
  |  8 May 2021 1:51 PM GMT
New Delhi- Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a rare but dangerous medical condition that is linked with COVID-19 infections. Children who go on to develop this condition experience inflammation in their organs as tissues such as the heart, lungs, blood vessels, kidneys, digestive system, brain, skin, or eyes.
A case of an 11-year-old child diagnosed with MIS-C syndrome undergoing treatment in the SRCC hospital showed that he had been infected with the COVID-19 virus four weeks prior to being admitted to the hospital. While the test reports conducted earlier were consistently showing him to be negative, it was found out that he was asymptomatic, therefore his COVID-induced condition was left undetected, unnoticed and untreated. Before being brought to the hospital, the child showed classical symptoms of the MIS-C syndrome such as high fever, swelling of the neck, bloodshot eyes, rashes all over the body, and gastrointestinal conditions like diarrhea and vomiting.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is working to learn more about Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C).
The agency is asking 4 hospitals, including Phoenix Children's, to help them find answers.
ABC15 Health Insider Dr. Wassim Ballan is no stranger to MIS-C. He is an infectious disease doctor at Phoenix Children's and is now on a team of medical experts selected by the CDC to investigate this rare but serious, pediatric health condition that affects children, weeks after a COVID-19 infection or exposure.

Bhopal: 3-year-old battling mystery disease; Covid link under lens | Bhopal News

BHOPAL: Doctors at a private medical facility in city are working 24X7 to revive a three-and-a-half-year-old girl from a disease which they believe is most likely a new illness — a Covid-19–associated multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) or Kawasaki-like disease (KD).
While doctors are finding it bit difficult to differentiate her illness following similar symptoms, financial constraints have left her parents anguished.
KD is a severe illness that affects mostly children under five. It features inflammation of blood vessels. Though the cause of KD is not clearly known, experts say, it occurs in genetically predisposed children after exposure to even airborne infections. Covid-19 is a recent addition to it.

MUSKEGON, Mich. — When 8-year-old Karson Camp and his two younger siblings got COVID-19, their mom, Amber Vallejo, figured their journey with the disease ended at the same time as their quarantine.
Diagnosed with COVID on Dec. 4, 2020, Karson was completely asymptomatic. Amber got all her kids tested after their daycare provider tested positive.
Christmas Eve, he started getting sick. Amber says Karson was tired, had a fever and was throwing up.
