UN gives final nod to country’s graduation from LDC status; transition period extended to 2026
Bangladesh has stepped into a new journey as it qualified to graduate into a developing nation from a Least Developed Country (LDC) after 45 years.
The United Nations Committee for Development Policy (UN CDP) recommended  the graduation in its final evaluation on Friday.
Bangladesh is scheduled to officially become a developing country in 2026 as the UN committee recommended that the country should get five years, instead of three, to prepare for the transition due to the impact of the Covid-19 on its economy.

After the formal graduation, Bangladesh will lose the benefits enjoyed by the LDCs, such as soft loans and export facilities. It can, however, enjoy those benefits during the five-year preparatory period.
Under the current rules, Bangladesh will enjoy duty-free access to the European Union market for three more years after 2026.
Speaking to bdnews24.com on Saturday, researcher Ahsan H Mansur said the government should now pay more attention to bilateral free trade agreements and ditch protectionist policies.

Summary
We have now witnessed the exit of Donald Trump as the least popular president in modern US history to date.
In the wake of Trump's presidency lies a trail of debris as he enabled the destruction of many sacred American institutions including the peaceful transfer of power.
He and his compadres opened the door to demons that we of the ‘Third World’ and ‘Developing Nations’ are so intimately familiar with.

Scientist Dominic DiGiulio's Work Illuminated How Fracking Affects People and Environment - - People in communities across the nation have found themselves the participants in a fracking experiment. The practice is controversial because of its potential impacts to public health and the environment, specifically, it can poison drinking water. After years of research, scientist Dominic DiGiulio made this link. He found that people's groundwater can become contaminated under certain conditions. The pits that store fracking chemicals are one example. Such was the case in Pavillion, Wyoming, a community of roughly 230 people.Back in 2008, residents began complaining their water had a foul taste and smell. So the EPA came in to investigate. Led by DiGiulio, the team's preliminary findings released three years later suggested fracking was to blame. But officials in Wyoming dismissed the findings as a political move.DiGiulio rejects that claim to this day.

Medical experts in the country have said that complications arising from the practice of traditional bone-setting is a major contributor to the challenges that orthopaedic practitioners face in Nigeria.
Theysaid that complications arising from the activities of traditional bonesetters constitute a serious challenge to orthopaedic practice, with associated negative socio-economic impact.
This is even as some researchers recommend that traditional bonesetters not only be taught certain injury management techniques, but to also be incorporated into the Nigerian healthcare system.
A study, titled, Traditional Bonesetters and Contemporary Orthopaedic Fracture Care in a Developing Nation: Historical Aspects, Contemporary Status and Future Directions, published in The Open Orthopaedics Journal, suggests that bonesetters be allowed to fill perceived void created by the severe lack of surgeons.
