STERLING HEIGHTS — The inauguration of a new president is always a historic event. Lending to the air of pageantry and patriotism is the U.S. Marine Band — an elite group of musicians who perform for the commander in chief and in hundreds of public performances each year. And one of its members hails from Sterling Heights.
“It’s humbling to be a part of something so momentous,” Staff Sgt. Cecilia Buettgen, a French horn player in the Marine Band and 2004 graduate of Sterling Heights High, said in an email.
