have good estimates, 3% growth. a very solid, very, very solid performance to the economy. then look at unemployment. people thought, economists thought it'd edge up close to 5% as the federal reserve raised rates and forced the economy to slow down. in fact, it's just under 4%. it is still more or less where it has been for several years. if you look, tied to that is jobs growth, of course. consensus for the reasons i said, expecting a slower economy, thought we'd actually lose a few jobs per month. in fact, we gained almost 250,000 jobs a month through november. we'll get one more number on friday of this week. lastly, the s&p, willie, as you mentioned, nobody can predict the s&p. let's be honest about that for starters. we were looking at 5%, the strategists. instead, they got 25%. >> wow. >> for joe biden's re-election, let's just look ahead to what people think about 2024.

even though the main storm is sustained at category 2 the wind gusts will be a category higher. it's expected to be a category 2 as it crosses into the state of georgia and continues to weaken as it pushes into the state of south carolina in the next 24 hours. so you've got some of those at least triple digit mile per hour wind gusts that are going to cross over into georgia, even as you come over towards savannah you are still looking at wind gusts about 75, up to 100, 110 miles per hour so still significant numbers there, and that's part of the reason why power outages are going to be a concern. right now between both the state of florida and the state of georgia that number is up to about a quarter of a million people, yes, over 250,000 people looking at power outages right now across these two states, that number is likely to go up as we go through the day and that storm continues to spread. you're going to see those power outage numbers go up through the states of georgia and south carolina as they start to get more of those heavy bands and

>> reporter: jose, good morning. well, we had a tornado warning about two hours ago just south of gainesville in marion county, and we are, of course, under that tornado watch that's going through 3:00 p.m. local time. so that's what's worrying authorities here, the tornado watch for most of central florida. we got a lot of wind and a lot of rain overnight. obviously the dangers here are different than those where you're at on the coast where the storm surge is what's been worrying authorities. county authorities say they've already had reports of falling trees in some part of the county, and also there's power outages. we've seen these power outages that have been reported all across the state, jose, more than 250,000 customers affected. here it's about 15,000 customers last i checked. that's about 10% of customers in the county here that have been affected, and authorities want people to wait, even though conditions have improved somewhat here, we've seen some residents come outside and take a look at the conditions, jose, and what you see if you go

what have you got there? >> right now the big issue out here in tallahassee is the power outages. that's something they predicted would be a big issue because this city is known for its tree coverage. 55% tree coverage and worried the strong winds from idalia would knock them over and cause power outages. there are 34,000 power outages in leon county where we are now. almost 250,000 in the state right now. a lot of people in the dark. thankfully it's daylight now and that helps at this time. i will say power companies are out trying to actively restore it. i will say 20 minutes ago it said 50,000 power outages. they're at work already. as you can see if you look around me it's raining and non-stop all morning and behind me some of the trees are giving way to the wind. every now and then we get a

governor who is speaking about the state of things in his state. >> in the northern part of the state, so far, there have been 262,000 accounts that had lost power, have been restored. there are more than 250,000 accounts that are currently out of power and in need of restoration. as you'd imagine, the counties that have the highest percentage of power outs ages in the main pathway of the storm. counties like dixie, taylor, jefferson and columbia. eutility workers are actively working to restore power in all affected areas. they have started doing that as soon as it was safe to do so. so those restoration efforts are ongoing. we do anticipate you could have power outage numbers could go higher, but the restoration numbers are going to go higher as well.
