jennifer rogers and i used to work, which is backed by a federal prison, then you would come to the state courthouse, which also has the old state prison called the tombs behind that, and then you would come to 26 federal plaza, which is the regional headquarters for the fbi and the department of homeland security. i also think anyone who's thinking of going down there and causing trouble ought to take heed of the lesson of what happened to the people who stormed the capital on january 6th, many of whom are now serving long prison sentences, and jennifer today, manhattan district attorney alvin bragg sent a letter to republican lawmakers. attacking the house gop investigation into his office. he called it unprecedented. republicans have been trying to paint alvin brags case and investigation is politically motivated. do you worry that brags strongly worded letter might make this look even more political? i don't think so , jake, because actually, while he was very strong on the point of this is unprecedented, there is no basis for congress to try. to interfere in a local prosecution and you have no oversight over my office. all of that was very strong, but i

state videos on his phone. this, as a new jersey man is now accused of doubting major landmarks in new york city, new york, city. washington, d.c., and boston as sites for potential attacks on the half of hezbollah. dreaming i was bill gavin, former assistant director of the fbi and new york. we'll get to american airlines and just a moment. i want to start with this new jersey man and what we know. a red flag to be sent out to you, bill >> it sounds out to me, harris, there are two things pete as he recalled a 1993 with the bombing of the trade center, we had that group of people. at the same time in the attempted attack, which was stopped, on the tunnels. both harlem and lincoln. the u.n. the garage, and 26 federal plaza. those are some of the same targets that saab has been looking at. what is more important to me is that they are now looking more

have any sense and is your reporting telling you at all if this campaign finance question involves that payment to karen mcdougal that's discussed on the tape? >> that's what's been reported for weeks and weeks so you have to think that but i don't want to go out on that limb until i see the paperwork. sometimes there are developments that prosecutors and the fbi that we were not aware of that will come out of left field. that's where it appears to be going. >> to reinforce jonathan's point, i was able to speak with someone who said we're not going to get the court paperwork until he makes his appearance at 4:00. that's unusual. normally we would have that in advance and we would be able to read out to you exactly what it is that he's pleading to. so this is still a pretty fluid and dynamic environment. however, we see michael cohen here at 26 federal plaza, the new york fbi field office, presumably surrendering himself.
plaza, the entrance to the federal appeals. he can surrender to federal law enforcement officials. that picture right there that we're seeing from cnbc, that's michael cohen entering 26 federal plaza which is the location of the new york fbi field office. from there, steve, he's going to be in position to -- he will actually i believe be fingerprinted and that will start the criminal process for him from the standpoint of actually at that point entering into this plea agreement we've been talking about. that's essentially where it's at and that's where he is. the courthouse from there, it is likely that they will drive him to the courthouse and then from there he'll make his appearance. he will announce his plea and then i expect that we will see him this afternoon. there's really no underground entrance or exit that he will go through at either one of the
out and jonathan is right to be a little circumspect, by the time that michael cohen walks in to the fbi at 26 federal plaza, this deal is locked and loaded. it is now time for him to go in front of the judge. he is going to have to admit to the crimes that he committed and he may be asked whether he committed them with anyone else which will be something very interesting to listen to. but this is very consistent with michael cohen and his television lawyer, lanny davis, being very quiet over the past three weeks or so which is consistent with michael cohen meeting quite frequently my guess is with the prosecutors, giving them all the information that he has about the crimes he committed and those crimes that he committed with others and perhaps even other crimes that he wasn't involved in but he knows about. he's provided all of that information to the prosecutors. the prosecutors have vetted that information. they've corroborated it with all of their own evidence and they would have to make sure that they believe michael cohen and
just a short while ago. i can also tell you that the mayor has been informed about what's going on down there. we at this point are just trying to get more specifics from the police department in terms of exactly what happened, but once again, we're hearing at this point shots fired. one person in custody. nypd says with, quote, no others outstanding. brooke? >> all right, jason, thank you so much. james gagliano is here with me. you see the crashed car there on the screen and you have to appreciate in manhattan, right, it's afternoon, it's tribeca. there are a lot of people out and about on a beautiful fall afternoon, and when you have something happening it looks like in the street, there are people inches away on the sidewalk. that's where my mind is going. >> absolutely. and i worked at 26 federal plaza, which is -- >> right there. >> within the bows of the freedom tower. my commute home took me on west street into chamber street. that area as you pointed out, brooke, right now lots of pedestrian traffic and a lot of people trying to get to the west
the authorities have that they share with us turns out not to be completely accurate. they are doing the best they can and we are sharing with you what we are getting from law enforcement and other authorities. i want to bring in cnn law enforcement analyst james gagliano. he's on the phone. he's a retired fbi supervisory special agent. first of all, james, thanks for joining us. tell us about this area of manhattan. >> so, jake, i come at this two ways. one, i spent about 20 years of my 25-year career stationed at 26 federal plaza. the streets that we're talking about here, so we're talking about west street and chambers are right just outside the office and that's the route where people in lower manhattan generally head out when they're going to head north on the west side highway, which was my commute home. at this time of year with the weather still nice, there is going to be a heavy pedestrian population out on foot. we know that the city has done a great job of expanding the biking lines so a lot of the major thoroughfares have these bike paths on it. to your point aiearlier, we wan
