Medvedev Ready For âTough Matchâ Against Practice Partner Popyrin
Felix, Isner meet in 2019 semi-final rematch
So far in 2021, Daniil Medvedev has led Russia to the ATP Cup title, reached his maiden Australian Open final and collected his 10th ATP Tour trophy at the Open 13 Provence in Marseille.
An interesting common denominator behind those title runs at the ATP Cup and Marseille? Pre-tournament practice sessions with Alexei Popyrin. The pair will meet on Sunday for a place in the Miami Open presented by Itau Round of 16.
During pre-season, Medvedev joined Popyrin for multiple practice sessions. The Russian also connected with the Aussie ahead of his trip to Marseille, where he beat Jannik Sinner and Pierre-Hugues Herbert en route to the title.

Tennis | Miami Open: Which Americans have won the Miami Open and will there be a home champion in 2021?

Andy Roddick (2004, 2010).
In total, 15 of the 35 editions of the tournament have been won by a player from the home country.
Will an American win the Miami Open in 2021?
If an American is to achieve a 16th victory for their nation this year, then
Isner is the best-placed to do so.
He'll have to first face North American opposition in Canada's
Felix Auger-Aliassime, but there are only 11 players remaining with higher seeds than the 2018 champ.
US dominance in the women's singles
Given that the
Williams sisters have 11 titles at the Miami Open between them, it's little surprise that Americans have dominated the women's event over the years as well.
