Tom Llamas, the popular former ABC News anchor, has joined NBC News as a primetime anchor for its NBC News Now live-streaming service.
Llamas will work as a senior national correspondent and will also contribute reporting to the network’s flagship shows and breaking news and special events coverage. The launch of his new show marks the first evening newscast for NBC News Now, which will face off with, among other competitors, a similar program anchored by Linsey Davis that is already running at ABC News — and which recently expanded its hours. He will start May 3.

The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle watched Prince Philip's televised funeral on Saturday from her California home, confirmed Fox News.
According to the outlet, Markle's absence from the Duke of Edinburgh's royal funeral was known for several days before the event took place. She was advised by a doctor not to go to because she's pregnant. Prince Harry went to the United Kingdom solo, before this week [-to go to the funeral]. Meghan remained behind with the couple's just about two-year-old child Archie. The couple settled down in Santa Barbara, California, a year ago, months after they declared their choice to step back as senior members of the royal family.

The job is a critical one at ABC and its parent company, Walt Disney Co. “GMA” generated $293.6 million in advertising in 2020, according to Kantar, a tracker of ad spending, compared with $357.6 million for NBC’s “Today” and $185.4 million for “CBS This Morning” on CBS. And the show has recently been expanding. In 2018, ABC News launched an afternoon extension of the program that, after a shaky start, has functioned as sort of a news update for midday viewers. In 2019, ABC expanded the hours of the show’s Saturday broadcast, part of a bid to get more stations to run the program across the U.S.
