Winkler, Felix, and Cherry shine at USATF Open in Texas

Winkler, Felix, and Cherry shine at USATF Open in Texas
FORT WORTH -- Strong winds impacted every event at the USATF Open Tuesday at the AP Ranch, but couldn’t keep Olympic legend
Allyson Felix and
Michael Cherry from stealing the show – she with her fastest 400m in four years, and Cherry with a lifetime best in the men’s 400m. This Continental Tour bronze level meet was the latest in USATF’s 2021 Journey to Gold Tokyo Outdoor Series.

Felix, the Rio silver medalist in 2016 and a bronze medalist at the 2017 World Championships, ran her first 400m of the year and looked comfortable in clocking 50.88 to win by almost half a second. Team USATF women make up 24 of the 34 athletes that have hit the Olympic qualifying standard.

2021 USATF Golden Games preview, DK Metcalf enters 100m

The US Olympic Trials are right around the corner, just a month and a half out at this point. The 2021 USATF Golden Games are the next step many athletes are taking to prepare for the Trials. There should be some great competition at the meet along with some fast times and big marks.
The men’s 100m race has a lot of eyes focused on it. The other day it was announced that DK Metcalf is running the 100 at the Golden Games. Considered one of the fastest players in the NFL, Metcalf is going to test the track speed vs football speed argument. Former Olympian Michael Rodgers will be competing in the 100m as well. 8x NCAA All-American, Bryce Robinson will make an appearance as well.

2021 USATF Grand Prix recap, Trayvon Bromell shines in 100m debut

The 2021 USATF Grand Prix had the star power and the results reflected as much. Three world-leading performances went down along with a lot of competitive and interesting results, just weeks out from the 2021 Olympic Trials. Trayvon Bromell and Noah Lyles had all eyes on them in the 100m.
In the Nike Men’s 100m, many had Lyles as the favorite and rightfully so, but Bromell had a strong indoor season and some 200m races last month showed his fitness. After posting a 10.01 in the prelims, Bromell followed it up with a 10.01 performance in the final, good enough for first.

Just one week after clocking 10.72 for 100m, Sha'Carri Richardson continued her fine form to run 22.11 (1.0m/s) in her 200m season debut at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, on Friday (16).
It is the 21-year-old’s second quickest ever time for the distance behind her PB of 22.00 set in Florida last August and saw the world U20 record-holder win the heat by almost half a second ahead of Lynna Irby with 22.57.
World and Olympic medallist Blessing Okagbare was third in 22.66.
The time clocked by Richardson – who moved to sixth on the world all-time list with her 100m run the week before – is the second fastest in the world at this early point of the season behind Shaunae Miller-Uibo’s 22.03 from earlier this month.
