Denver, Colo., Mar 17, 2020 / 12:20 pm (CNA).- While dioceses across the country have canceled public Masses in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus, many parishes are remaining open for prayer, Eucharistic adoration, and confession, and continuing charitable work in the community. But some parishes, especially those serving poor communities, have already begun feeling a financial pinch as they lose access to in-person parish collections. For Father Joseph Lajoie, pastor at Sacred Heart Parish in Denver, dwindling cash flow during the coronavirus crisis constitutes a “potentially crippling, if not mortal, blow” to the parish. “We are as antiquated as our registration system. Abortion-Derived Vaccines: Conscience over Legalism with Michael Pakaluk and Jay Richards [transcript] Transcript of Catholic Culture Podcast Episode 106, in which Michael Pakaluk and Jay Richards join host Thomas V. Mirus for a very thorough philosophical, theological and practical discussion of the decision about whether to be vaccinated with a COVID vaccine which has been tested or formulated with illicitly-obtained fetal cell lines. CatholicCulture.org believes this to be the most thorough and reliable discussion of this important topic.
(RNS) — Last week, the Supreme Court agreed to take up the most important challenge to a U.S. abortion law in nearly three decades. Under scrutiny is Mississippi’s statute protecting most prenatal children beyond 15 weeks of gestation. If Roe v. Wade is still the controlling precedent, Mississippi’s law will likely be found unconstitutional, as the majority opinion in Roe stated that all abortion limits prior to viability violate a woman’s right to privacy. Some argue that if the court “guts” Roe by upholding the Mississippi law it will hurt the prospects of politicians who support prenatal justice, since 7 in 10 Americans support Roe, according to consistent polling.
