Review: The Mercedes-Benz CLE is elegant and nimble (but you'd need yoga skills to use the rear seats!)

Uncertainty in the car market continues as Chinese disruptors enter the market at a rapid pace while European carmakers struggle to compete. Earlier this year, the company that created the first car, Mercedes, rolled back on plans to sell only electric vehicles “where market conditions allow” by 2030, instead pledging “to cater to different customer needs, whether it’s an all-electric drivetrain or an electrified combustion engine, until well into the 2030s”. The carmaker now expects EVs to make up just 50pc of total sales by 2030. Meanwhile, electric car sales have slowed in Ireland — in the first three months of 2024, sales fell 14pc compared with the same time last year as the new car market overall rose 8pc.

Spinach is such an easy vegetable to add into your diet as it’s super speedy to cook and very versatile. The green, leafy vegetable will add health-boosting nutrition to dishes both raw and cooked. If I’m preparing spinach and using the larger perpetual leaves, then I’ll always destalk first.

Sophie White: My 10-year-old son wants a phone and a YouTube channel. I want a roadmap for parenting in the digital age

Obviously no generation of parents ever comes up against exactly the same parenting conditions and demands as the previous one. But when my grandparents were talking to my parents as children, at least they most likely understood the majority of the actual words they were speaking.

'No one is going to take your work seriously until you do' — Best-selling author Emily Henry on why the world needs romantic fiction

‘I think that every book that I have written has been a reaction to the last book,” Emily Henry says with a smile. She’s describing how writing Happy Place, her last book about a couple who have broken up but find themselves having to pretend they are still a couple, put her slightly through the ringer. Ciara Kelly: I suffer from name blindness. When I'm introduced to someone, I forget their name instantly

I can’t remember people’s names. No one’s. In fact, there’s a running joke in my house that I once referred to my own four children as Big Milo, Girl Milo, Milo and Small Milo when I was struggling to remember all their names in one hurried instance. (I should point out it’s a joke only Milo finds funny, but in my defence, I do have four of them, it is quite a lot).

Irony, Pain, and Hope of Earth Day 2024

In the final equation, what does Earth Day mean? It means YOU must be the “change agent” in your community, your state and your country. You must elect those who will act. If they won’t act, you may run for office. When it comes to a free society, it’s up to “we the people” to make change toward a v
