june 30th deal. i know they had this march 31st deadline for a certain framework. but the iranians always wanted this to go down to the wire to june 30th. the german foreign minister also tweeted that enough understanding has been reached and they will be making the statement we're expecting. >> those negotiations as you know they've been going on now for 18 months. they began the negotiations. the there already have been a few extensions and this june 30th deadline, the president of iran says in his tweet drafting to start immediately to finish by june 30th. javad zarif he says found solutions, ready to start drafting immediately. do you know if that june 30th deadline like other deadlines earlier, is really hard and fast. can they extend it even further? a lot of the critics say the iranian goal is to keep
>> a clarification of the law is expected to be on the governor's desk by the end of the week. the march 31st deadline for a iranian nuclear deal has come and gone talks were extended until today. secretary of state john kerry and his fellow negotiations have already started the meeting. kerry updated president obama on the status on the negotiations with iran so far. what is the latest with these talks? >> reporter: another extension has come and gone as negotiators work through the night. they're making progress. it seems that some of the problems, the iranians are reluctant to get into specifics to sign some sort of document that would put in restrictions or limitations on what they can do on the nuclear program.

now you're seeing some foreign ministers leaving which helps feed the sense that they're not really going to sign a piece of paper even in they agree in the next 24 hours or so. they'll make a statement of goals and leave the tough issues for the next three months of negotiations. that sets you up for the june 30th deadline for final agreement. john, you look at the calendar, a lot of the deadlines have passed. you look at the screen and you see the differences, particularly on sanctions relief, on r&d. here's a calendar that shows where we are just past that march 31st deadline. then you have another three months to get to a final agreement. like i said, a lot of deadlines have been passed or extended. i'm loath at this point to call any deadline hard-and-fast. >> absolutely. where is the patience in terms of backyard home amongst the members of congress watching this very, very closely. what do they think of a path deadline or nonexistent deadline
