the naacp is issuing a travel advisory for the state of florida. the civil rights organization said that florida is openly hostile to african americans, people of color, and lgbtq+ individuals. and said the decision comes in response to rhonda sentences attempts to erase black history. they also listed specific pieces of legislation they feel violates civil rights, adding desantis's actions are in direct conflict with the democratic ideals our union was founded upon. it was unusual for an organization to issue a travel advisory, the naacp is not unheard of. back in 2017, they issued a travel advisory for missouri after a controversial bill was passed there. the list of republicans hoping to take on president biden for the white house continues to grow with two more names expected to be added this week.
