and i think they will embrace president trump. they have to reason to run away from him if their constituents are happy with what the president is doing. in other districts, i think you're seeing republicans retiring rather than run in the districts that hillary clinton won or trying to distance themselves from president trump's controversies, but not necessarily the tax bill because in a lot of districts, there will be people who see their wages go up between now and election day and republicans will want to highlight the fact that they're the ones who brought that home. let's turn to trump's relationship with his own party. you have one republican senator refuting the president's claims that he did not speak in an offensive way about other countries. you have another senator about to give a speech comparing trump's treatment to the press to stalin. is there any effort inside the white house to sort of mend fences within the gop or is it just sort of strengthening the resolve of president trump? >> well, i think we have seen a little bit of that fence mending going on with the white house.
and called 911. when officers arrived, they say they found the siblings, some bound and chained in what appeared to be a dungeon-like condition. meanwhile, officials in southern california say at least three people remain missing following the deadly mudslides there. the death toll now stands at 20. separately, they hope to have the 101 freeway open next monday as crews remove tons of mud and debris from the freeway. and several of trump's associates are expected so appear in front of congress. meanwhile, steve bannon is expect expected to meet with the house intel committee later today. president trump continues to reject accusations that he is a racist in the wake of his allegedly disparaging comments
