Q&A: Rudy Tomjanovich on his long-awaited Hall of Fame call After 15 years, the legendary Rockets player and coach is glad to finally call himself a Hall of Famer. Steve Aschburner May 12, 2021 1:54 PM Rudy Tomjanovich is one of only three coaches to win an NBA title and an Olympic gold medal. Rudy Tomjanovich had gotten so used to the “Sorry, maybe next year” phone calls from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, he almost looked forward to the “silver lining” of hearing from disappointed family, friends, even strangers. “It’s humbling,” he said of people’s support. Now Tomjanovich will have to find other reasons to stay connected, with his inclusion as a coach in the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2020 to be enshrined May 14-15.
As the devoted husband and consort to Her Majesty The Queen, the marriage of Her Majesty and His Royal Highness formed a foundation of leadership of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth for nearly eight decades. On the occasion of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, Her Majesty referred to His Royal Highness as her "constant strength and guide." His Royal Highness will be remembered fondly by British Columbians for his devotion to Queen and country, his duties as Royal Patron, and his ever-keen interest in the lives and work of Canadians. On behalf of all British Columbians, I wish to once more extend my heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty The Queen, the entire Royal Family, and all citizens of the Commonwealth, on the loss of this steadfast companion and most loyal Prince.
× A MOTHER and son found guilty of killing a man over a long-running land dispute have been given the right to appeal their life sentences. Scott Dawson, 43, and mother Carol Dawson, 73, were convicted of murdering 48-year-old Gary Dean on August 9, 2019, after a five-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court. Mr Dean’s body was found by a passer-by in House Carr Dike, Hood Green, on September 6, 2018. He had been killed in a ‘sustained assault’ in which he suffered skull and rib fractures, severe bruising and brain haemorrhaging, and had been shot in the back with an air rifle. The Dawsons claimed Mr Dean repeatedly caused criminal damage to their land, which bordered on House Carr Dike, as he often used a public footpath which crossed over it.
Advertisement A new underground rail line through Melbourneâs south-east â stage one of Laborâs Suburban Rail Loop â will scupper plans for a series of new parks that the Andrews government committed $25 million towards just two years ago. The huge new train line, the most expensive transport project in Victorian history, will also permanently reduce the size of a number of existing parks along its route. Heatherton locals have campaigned for over two decades for a park on land that is now set to be used for a train line and train stabling. Credit:Jason South The first detailed documents of where the $50 billion rail lineâs 26-kilometre first stage will run were released on December 21, the same day Premier Daniel Andrews released the final report of an inquiry into mistakes made in Victoria's hotel quarantine program.
