Supporting outdoor dining: Campaspe Shire

Supporting outdoor dining: Campaspe Shire
Campaspe Shire business operators and traders are invited to register their interest for the installation of permanent umbrella sleeves to support outdoor dining.
General Manager Community, Keith Oberin said this new initiative is designed to activate streetscapes and support local hospitality and food operators.
“The initiative presents an opportunity to expand and improve outdoor dining across Campaspe,” Mr Oberin said.
Council has received a Victoria Government grant which will cover the design and construction costs associated with the umbrella sleeves. Business owners will be responsible for providing umbrellas.
“We encourage applicable businesses to submit an obligation free application which will then be considered following a site inspection by Council’s infrastructure staff,” Mr Oberin said.

Carillion: move to disqualify directors signals UK authorities getting tougher on 'corporate wrongdoing'

It was a dramatic end for government super-contractor Carillion when it crashed into insolvent liquidation in January 2018. Part-completed road projects, unfinished hospital buildings and disruption to hospital cleaning and catering heralded the end of this self-styled “integrated support services business”.
Carillion owed its creditors over £1.5 billion, and when matters came to a head on the back of asset write-downs and a plummeting share price, the government refused to mount a rescue. In the end over 3,000 employees lost their jobs and many supplier firms lost contracts, with domino insolvencies spreading from the rotten core of Carillion.
Now comes the possibility of a regulatory reckoning, at least for eight directors of the public limited company. The government’s Insolvency Service has announced that it is bringing directors’ disqualification proceedings against these former directors for their alleged role in running the construction and infrastructure contractor into the ground. They include former chairman Philip Green and former chief executives Richard Howson and Keith Cochrane.

Government commitment to NT infrastructure highlights growth opportunities
Today’s announcement by Minister Keith Pitt of the next stage of the Australian Government’s Strategic Basin Plan for the Beetaloo Basin underscores confidence in the Territory’s world-class gas reserves, APPEA Northern Territory Director Keld Knudsen said today.
The Gas Industry Roads Upgrades program, funded by the Federal Government’s $4.6 billion Roads of Strategic Importance Initiative (ROSI), will improve road networks throughout the Territory in support of local communities and the continued development of remote and regional areas of the Territory, including the highly prospective Beetaloo Sub-basin.
The upgrade program will inject $217 million in funding into the Northern Territory and support more than 400 jobs, improving supply chains and connecting a range of businesses and sectors to Australian and international markets. The Beetaloo is the first of five gas basins to be explored as part of Federal Government plans announced in the 2020-21 Federal Budget.
