MLB Trade Rumors The Blue Jays may be dealing with yet another injury absence, as Rowdy Tellez suffered a mild left hamstring strain that forced him out of today’s 10-8 victory over the Phillies. While batting in the eighth inning, Tellez slipped on home plate after hitting a line drive to left field, as a would-be double was limited to a single since Tellez was moving gingerly down the first base line. Jays manager Charlie Montoyo told Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling and other reporters that “ there’s a good chance” Tellez would be placed on the 10-day injured list.

TORONTO It’s clear Nate Pearson is going to contribute in the big leagues this season. His ultimate role with the Toronto Blue Jays, however, is completely up for debate at this point, simply because it’s evident there’s a lot of refinement needed in order to find success against big-league bats. Over a 20.1 inning sample size now since his debut last July, Pearson has walked 18 batters. That’s obviously not going to give him a chance to succeed. In fact, it’s hard to find something good to say about Pearson’s start Sunday against the Houston Astros, admittedly a tough lineup for any pitcher to go through.

Jeter Downs, Jarren Duran break out, WooSox beat Bisons, 4-2, for franchise first victory Updated May 07, 2021; Posted May 07, 2021 Boston Red Sox shortstop Jeter Downs (20) bats against the Tampa Bay Rays during a spring training baseball game Friday, March 26, 2021, in Port Charlotte, Fla. (AP Photo/John Bazemore)AP Facebook Share After three rough nights to start the team’s existence, the Worcester Red Sox got good starting pitching and timely hitting en route to the franchise’s historic first victory, 4-2, over the Buffalo Bisons at Trenton Thunder Ballpark, Friday in New Jersey. The WooSox top prospects found their swings. Jarren Duran had three hits and Jeter Downs had two hits, two runs and a stolen base as both shook off their early mini slumps to set the tone for the offense. Duran, who was 0-for-11 in the first three games, jumped on Buffalo starter T.J. Zeuch’s first pitch of the game and lined it to right for a leadoff single. That seemed to snap him back into form and the team followed.
