Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young led his upstart squad to the Eastern Conference Finals, but the 22-year-old phenom seems a little salty about not being on Team USA for the Tokyo Olympics.
The American national team has struggled in two exhibition losses, and could perhaps use a young, fresh floor general like Young to lift the spirits as the Summer Games near.
Apparently, Young was snubbed off the squad — even after Bradley Beal and Jerami Grant were reported to be put in the COVID-19 health and safety protocols. How do we knows this? Check out this post from Young’s Twitter feed:

Jason Kidd, who won an NBA title with the Dallas Mavericks as a player in 2011, has agreed to a deal to coach the club, according to multiple media reports on Friday.
The Mavericks also hired longtime Nike executive Nico Harrison as general manager, according to The Athletic, ESPN, USA Today and other media, citing unnamed sources.

Well, it’s happened before — sort of. The Nets franchise — then called the New York Nets, won two American Basketball Association titles in 1974 and 1976 led by legend Julius Erving before the ABA-NBA merger at the conclusion of the ‘76 season. However, since joining the newly formed league, the Nets have been an up-and-down team.

The team has often struggled to make it through the first round of the NBA playoffs or to even make the playoffs at all. The closest the Nets have ever come to winning an NBA title is a throwback to when Hall of Fame point guard Jason Kidd’s 2002 and 2003 teams advanced to the NBA Finals twice in two amazing back-to-back seasons. Unfortunately, rollercoaster seasons followed, and in an effort to revitalize the team, the Nets moved to Brooklyn for the first time in 2012.

That’s a significant adjustment, but still pretty good value for a team that was right there with the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers at the top of the division standings at the time.

The Victoria native, who was a Hall of Fame point guard for the Suns, Mavericks and Lakers in his playing days, was presented with the game ball by Nets guard Kyrie Irving after the win.
