Antonius (Max von Sydow, right) plays chess with Death (Bengt Ekerot) in Ingmar Bergman’s classic “The Seventh Seal” (1957). Von Sydow, who died in 2020 at age 90, is the subject of a six-film online retrospective that is a partnership of the Berkeley Art Museum’s Pacific Film Archive and the California Film Institute’s Smith Rafael Film Center. It started by challenging Death to a game of chess and ended with “Game of Thrones.”
Max von Sydow carved out a legendary international career that included roles such as Jesus in the biblical epic “The Greatest Story Ever Told,” villains opposite Flash Gordon and James Bond, and was a must-have character actor for some of the world’s greatest directors, including William Friedkin (in “The Exorcist”), David Lynch (“Dune”), Steven Spielberg (“Minority Report”), Martin Scorsese (“Shutter Island”) and J.J. Abrams (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”).

Game of Thrones Season 8 Fails That Made the Ending 'That' Bad

Game of Thrones Season 8 Fails That Made the Ending That Bad
Game of Thrones Season 8 Fails That Made the Ending That Bad
Game of Thrones, after all the love and acclaim it received over the years, ended with a mixed response from both critics and audience alike. Most criticisms were towards unjustified conclusions to several character arcs and subplots.
It s been almost two years since the highly acclaimed HBO fantasy show
Game of Thrones ended with an unjustified and dissatisfactory ending. In the wake of big hype around the final season and a two-year wait for its premiere, fans took to blogs, YouTube videos, and Instagram posts to deduce theories on how Game of Thrones will address all the unanswered questions in the six-episode final season. The answer - it didn t. Neither did any of the theories fans suggested came true, nor did the creators address any of the easter eggs, hidden details, and long-hinted lore of the White Walkers. The result - Game of Thrones Season 8 is the least rated season of the show and is labeled as the most incomplete finale.

Game of Thrones prequel. This second series will be based on George R.R. Martin’s novellas about Dunk and Egg. The famous pair, who became King Aegon Targaryen V and his legendary Lord Commander, Ser Duncan the Tall, began their time together when “Egg” was a child. He served as squire to Dunk, a lowly, brave hedge knight, as the two traveled all over Westeros. During those years they interacted and lived with the common folk. But they never fully escaped the clutches of Egg’s royalty and the troubles his family faced during that complicated time. Theirs is a remarkable story, full of adventure, intrigue, triumph, and tragedy.

J.R.R. Tolkien crafted one of the most incredible fantasy worlds we’ve ever read, seen, or experienced, and we can thank his son Christopher Tolkien for his role in safeguarding the gift that is
The Lord of the Rings. Christopher Tolkien spent decades as the literary executor of J.R.R. Tolkien’s estate and became the definitive voice and scholar of Tolkien lore (no surprise, seeing as how he grew up with the stories of Bilbo Baggins and
The Lord of the Rings).
