QUEBEC is a province of the devout. In the rural districts this characteristic often expresses itself in the erection of outward symbols. Among these none is more unusual than that which stands at 179 Lafontaine Street in the town of Rivière du Loup, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence, 120 miles northeast of Quebec City.

And unlike the Queen, whose stops in the province were always part of tours that took her to other parts of the country, Prince Philip once spent an entire trip to Canada in Quebec — a four-day visit in 1989.

Minor killed on ATV after collision with a pick up truck in Quebec

MONTREAL --
A young person driving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) died following a collision with a pickup truck, early Saturday afternoon, in Degelis, Quebec in the Bas-Saint-Laurent.
The victim, who is a minor, was on a snow-covered forest road, near Rang Baseley, in the municipality about an hour south of Riviere-du-Loup.
The young driver, whose identity and age have not been disclosed, allegedly skidded for some reason while at the top of a small hill. The truck driving in the other direction could not avoid the ATV, said the Surete du Quebec, which was called to the scene around 1:15 p.m.
