mount tamalpais and south. you can see sausalito to san francisco, the bay bridge. partly cloudy, a little fog may form in some of our deepest valleys, especially the north bay where we had a little more rain yesterday. but so far everything is pretty quiet. let's talk about what happened yesterday, 24 hour rainfall. sonoma three-tenths of an inch, mill valley. same with san francisco. as usual san jose with this type of system the least amount, about two-hundredths. heading out now temperatures in the low to mid-50s in just about all of our neighborhoods around the monterey bay we're seeing the same type of temperatures. everybody 54 even inland except salinas at 55. drier, warmer today. you don't have to worry about wet weather. patchy fog and cool conditions today. our warmest afternoon, looks like tomorrow and again on wednesday because we have another chance of some showers in the weekend forecast. here's what happened while you were sleeping. notice the rainfall really starting to taper as the low is pushing to our south. the greatest look from the low is usually ahead of it and behind it we get sinking air and that's where we'll be as we head through the afternoon hours. that's why you see the rain overnight pretty much dissipated. even the clouds started to clear a little. we could see patchy fog for the next couple hours. once we head into the afternoon hours, you can see the sunshine developing and a few clouds will hang around but definitely brighter as the day unfolds. upper 60s, low 70s south bay. mid to upper 60s on the peninsula. mid-60s downtown and sausalito. low to mid-70s the north bay valley. mid to upper 60s through most of the bay shore, 70 union city. low to mid-70s the east bay valleys and morgan hill, gilroy. otherwise mid to upper 60s for santa cruz, salinas into hollister. low 60s monterey and caramel. traveling around the stay today, look for more of those showers to the southeast and thunder possible. 56 in big sur, 69 l.a. to 67 san diego. 79 palm springs. one of the warmer spots. scattered thunderstorms but nothing like the heavy rain in l.a. they dealt with yesterday. 74 in sacramento. bring it back home for tonight. napa, santa rosa, cloverdale, half moon bay mid to upper 40s. the rest of us low to mid-50s. let's check out that accu-weather seven-day forecast. temperatures hit near 80 inland for the warmer spots. mid-70s around the bay and low 60s at the coast. it should be almost as warm wednesday and then we'll lose about 4 degrees thursday and about another 4 on friday and a couple more saturday and sunday as the clouds increase and the chance of showers increases back into the forecast. here's eric with more news. >> mike, thank you very much. it's 4:55 now. san mateo county will close the bridge that crosses the crystal springs dam on thursday. the county is getting ready to demolish the 1920s era span and rebuild a nearby water pipeline improved to meet earthquake safety standards. the closure will mean a four-mile detour over state highway 92, crystal springs road to get back to the other side of the resevoir. construction will take three years. >> a new museum is now open. it tells the story of the japanese-americans in the silicon valley valley. it was built in part by san jose native jimmy namaji who spent time in a german camp in world war ii. he wants to show the struggle that japanese-americans had to deal with. we can portray just how we survived. >> the museum is the only one of its kind in northern california and one of just two in the states. >> one of san francisco's most famous entertainment venues has new life this morning. ♪ >> prize-winning exposer marvin ham lish reopened the fairmont hotel. ella fitzgerald, nat king cole and tony ben forget performed there. the supper club closed as an entertainment venue in 1989. a bay area group is reopening the venetian as a cabaret style room that will feature a variety of acts. it was there that tony bennett first performed i left my heart in san francisco in 1962 now. it's his signature tune. >> haven't seen such cash shea and hopefully we will again. >> 4:57 our time. violence at candlestick park just ahead at 5:00. the dispute that ledded to a stabbing outside the 49ers-raiders game. >> a report out this morning that millions of users may have had their personal information compromised as in swiped and sold and san francisco playless a big role in this. the details after the break. >> and the vote facing san francisco supervisors that could make them very unpopular i have fallen in love with making bird houses. caw caw!
