parking lot of arrowhead stadium earlier this month is deepening. >> police are treating his death as a homicide. they still don't know exactly how he died. linsey davis has more. >> reporter: i wake up every day with the same nightmare. >> reporter: it's not knowing what caused the death of her 30-year-old husband, seen here in home video, that makes it even more difficult for jenny van winkle to move on. >> completely senseless. i can't wrap my mind around it. >> reporter: kansas city investigators are looking for answers in kyle van winkle's mysterious death outside of the arrowhead stadium during the kansas city chiefs game. >> some of this may never be figured out because i don't have the answers. >> van winkle's father, a police sergeant was inside the stadium while his son allegedly got in to an unlocked jeep in the parking lot that resembled one that belonged to a relative. >> i was with him from start to finish that day at the tailgating. most everybody in our group had some kind of drinks. if i had even thought kyle was a little past where i thought under control he wouldn't have went to the restroom by himself. i would have followed and went with him. >> reporter: but van winkle never returned from the bathroom. instead police were called to the parking lot after the owner of a green jeep found a strange man inside of his vehicle. investigators say a struggle ensued. van winkle collapsed and the brand new father of a seven-week-old son was later pronounced dead at the hospital. >> unfortunately my life now is a reality i never thought i would ever have to be in. >> reporter: police have ruled van winkle's death a homicide but no charges have been filed. they say it could be weeks before they know what killed him. linsey davis, abc news, new york. >> some witnesses say it is more than a scuffle. the witnesses say he was beaten and left for dead. >> yeah. what is interesting is police have moved forward with the investigation. four people have been arrested, but nobody has been charged. they are focusing on the owner of the vehicle. but no name released and no one charged but it seems like the investigation is advancing. >> they are looking for building blocks. >> more than initially said or quick scuffle. they are taking it more seriously. >> bad story. coming up, big surprises with this year's golden globe nominations. some big names on what they want to believe. >> reporter: christian bale, bradley cooper, jennifer lawrence and amy adams were all nominated for their roles in the con artist crime flick. >> it's a crowded field of people who have won oscars before, people who have won globes before. >> reporter: especially in the category best actress in a motion picture drama. >> cate blanchett, "blue jasmine," sandra bullock, "gravity," judi dench, emma thompson, "saving mr. banks," and kate winslett. best actor putting. chiwetel ejiofor against idris elba, tom hanks, matthew mcconaughey and robert redford. >> lee daniels "the butler" getting shut out with no nominations considering at yesterday's sag nominations oprah winfrey was nominated for her role in the film. >> on the television side "homeland" was shut out from the major awards. >> i love to give people a good time. >> "behind the candelabra" and "house of cards" scored four nominations each with "house of cards" in the best drama television category, along with "downton abbey," "the good wife" and "breaking bad." >> i'm not coming back. >> reporter: for best television musical or comedy, "parks and recreation" is competing against the big bang theory, brooklyn 99, girls and modern family. there are also several actors like julia louis-dreyfus who received double nominations this year because of their roles in both film and television. john and diana? >> also off that list, very surprising "game of thrones" and "madmen." >> it is interesting, both of those have gotten all kinds of acclaim. >> absolutely. >> i think there was not enough room. so much good television and so many good movies including "the butler" and oprah, the fact she wasn't on there neither one was on there. >> they say she stole every scene she was in. they say she was terrific. i'm surprised. >> i haven't seen it. it is on my list to see at some point, but certainly a snub that i think a lot of people will start to pay attention to. >> something else off
