with prime minister netanyahu. we will sit down with the israeli war cabinet any moment now. you are watching "fox and friends first"s, i'm carley shimkus. >> todd: i'm todd piro. israeli troops advancing into gaza. [sound of shots fired] >> todd: idf says it has gaza largest city surrounded and ready to move in. hundreds of americans still inside gaza. united states is working to get them out and the hostages released. trey yingst with the very latest. trey. >> trey: hi, todd and carley, good morning. significant developments as israel forces say they completed encirclement of gaza city. that was announced yesterday. thousands of soldiers are in gaza pushing through the strip, trying to destroy as many hamas strongholds and tunnels as possible. forces continue to push forward, they are taking heavy losses, this week they lost 23 soldiers inside gaza. they have been ambushed by hamas to try to hold the forces off. the israelis are pushing forward air support, attack ep hel helicopters trying to target as many positions as possible. blinken is on the ground meeting. we expect the biden administration to call for a pause to let foreign citizens come out. this is taking place as the northern front -- slated to speak 3 p.m. beirut time9 a.m. eastern time and announce what comes next on the northern front. i asked a spokesman with the israelis make of this speech and what they can expect, they say they are preparing for escalation in the north and have to be patient and wait for what comes next. israelis striking southern lebanon hoping to send a message to hezbollah to deter them from getting more involved in the fight. >> carley: russia wagner group will send air defenses to hezbollah. the idf says this war will take months, not weeks, but every update shows significant progress is being made in terms of number of hamas targets being taken out and idf encircled gaza city. where are we in this war in your estimation? >> trey: so the israelis are making progress inside gaza. the battles will get more difficult in urban areas. deeper into the city they get, more challenging the fight will be, israeli air support does not work with with tall buildings and an urban battlefield. they are doing their job to encircle the city, they have been told to do so by israel military. the fight will be challenging. >> todd: i'm curious, more about this speech we are expecting later on today. the concern is more of an effort from hezbollah on the northern front. but the israelis and idf soldiers you speak with, is there palpable concern this could extend between hezbollah and hamas and could this expand to a larger regional conflict following this speech today? >> trey: yeah, absolutely. look, the israelis believe hezbollah is deterred up to this point because they see the american war ships and understand israel has backing of the united states and a war would drag in the united states and help israel to destroy hezbollah, iran's biggest proxy in the region and reduce capabilities of the iranian military. israel has to be prepared for this to unravel into broader regional conflict. we don't know and israel doesn't know and have to make calculations understanding iran is playing with fire and one decision away from broader ground war. >> todd: it is one thing on one hand to have the white house rumors that they are trying to cobbel together this two-state solution again with many middle eastern arob countries as leaders in gaza and possibility based upon how today goes that maybe some your honor kos could be in a war against israel. just so interesting and scary. thank you. in washington house passing new speaker mike johnson israel only package with help of 12 democrats. >> the bill is passed. [cheering] >> todd: the bill would send 14.3 billion in emergency aid to israel, cutting same from the irs budget to offset the cost. it is heading to the senate where chuck schumer says it is dead on arrival and he is backing president biden a proposal to tie aid to all encompassing foreign spending package. >> the president believes the sup element elemental report contains israel, ukraine, ishgsdo-pacific resource when it coming to manufacturing submaen radios and border security. president would veto only israel bill. >> todd: joe biden's bill would cost whopping $106 billion. protesters desecrating a u.s. war memorial during a so-called vigil for martyrs. watch this. >> this is -- [screaming] >> todd: seeing more and more americans getting fed up with disrespect and have the rest of the voot to show you. >> carley: a wanted terror suspect was released after illegally crossing the border. former trump adviser will react to that next, coming up next. i told myself i was ok with my moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. with my psoriatic arthritis symptoms. but just ok isn't ok. and i was done settling. if you still have symptoms after a tnf blocker like humira or enbrel, rinvoq is different and may help. rinvoq is a once-daily pill that can dramatically relieve ra and psa symptoms, including fatigue for some. it can stop joint damage. and in psa, can leave skin clear or almost clear. rinvoq can lower your ability to fight infections, including tb. serious infections and blood clots, some fatal; cancers, including lymphoma and skin cancer; death, heart attack, stroke, and tears in the stomach or intestines occurred. people 50 and older with at least one heart disease risk factor have higher risks. don't take if allergic to rinvoq as serious reactions can occur. tell your doctor if you are or may become pregnant. done settling? ask your rheumatologist for rinvoq. and take back what's yours. learn how abbvie could help you save. nice footwork. man, you're lucky, watching live sports never used to be this easy. now you can stream all your games like it's nothing. yes! >> we have been crystal clear that israel has a right to defend themselves. >> pause means they can still shoot back? >> peter, we're giving them security assistance almost everyday. do we advocate pauses by both sides, to get americans out, to get aid in? you bet we do. that does not mean we are calling for a ceasefire, there is a difference. >> carley: john was -- perfect person to talk to about all of this. thank you for joining us this morning. what do you make of this message coming from the white house regarding a pause in the war? >> thank you, carley, this is actually clean-up on aisle five for john kirbiy, my successor in that job. he is somebody issue he's got a tough client. this is somebody, president biden was at a fundraiser and there was a question, are we going to do a ceasefire? instead of telling her know, let the israelis do what they need to do. president biden said no, i'm not for a ceasefire, but i'm for a humanitarian pause. they asked john kirby if this is a shift in position? kirby has to do the dance and say in some way this is nothe a change of position, it was complete change of position. we need to be backing the israelis, letting them make the call and we can supply support and financial and material support. we need to stand back and let them do their job. it is not for us to do that. >> carley: john, you think this may have been a mistake by the president, off the cuff comment to the protester when delivering a speech a couple days ago, he said there was going to be pause in the war and he supported it and now clean up on aisle nine? >> exactly. he was clearly caught off guard by this protester and wanted -- the thing biden is caught between his base, which is very much pro-israel and fringe he needs which is anti-israel particularly in michigan, suburbs of deerborn and others and can't win reelection if he fails to get that muslim vote in michigan, he has to do the dance and did not want to tell this protester he was not with her. he changed policy on the fly and you better believe it was change in policy. >> carley: ask you about russia, we are learning wagner group will provide air defense system sa-22 to russia. this shows bad actors are interconnected and adds concern to how deeply hezbollah could get involved. >> hezbollah is firing missile into israel, the one counter attack israel has to deal with is to launch own rockets, which are more sophisticated than hezbollah rockets. this system, this sam system being given them by the wagner group, that blunts the counter attack and it can actually allow hezbollah to draw israel into broader front on the north front while pursuing war in gaza. this is troubleing and we need to follow it over next few weeks to see how bad this is in terms of blunting israel's capability. >> carley: bill melugin sent a note yesterday he discovered that border patrol released a wanted terror suspect into the u.s. and feds did not rearrest him until two weeks later in new york city. he is 29 years old, illegal wanted in senegal in relation to a terrorist organization. feels like it is only a matter of time here. this is disturbing, two days ago you had fbi director wray freeze up for 10 seconds when asked whether the country is safer under biden. there is no question that we're not safe and what happened, there are 151 people last month who are on the fbi watch list caught coming over the border, more than 10 times number caught in four years over the time president biden was in office. better believe allowing people into the country on the fbi watch list and this is somebody in the country and apprehended two weeks after he was here. this is exactly the wrong time to be letting people in porous border and everyone need to be held accountable, wray or mayorkas or biden. >> carley: there are untold number of bad actors in the country, how do you stop them? that is concerning. john, we have to leave it there, thank you for joining us. thank you. >> carley: we showed you this terrifying video of a wanted murder suspect opening fire on illinois state trooper. the brutal ambush left him with a brain bleed and fractures on the face and skull. >> todd: this morning that trooper's mother will join us with an update on his condition. stay with us. meet gold bond daily healing. a powerhouse lotion that moisturizes, heals, and smooths dry skin. with 7 moisturizers & 3 vitamins. and... new gold bond healing sensitive. clinically shown to heal & moisturize dry, sensitive skin. gold bond. hey, i just got a text from my sister. you remember rick, her neighbor?
