it does seem to me that january 6th just changes the way of thinking about him and that all institutions. i wonder if you feel that in congress although doesn't feel that way. it feels like mostly he exists in the republican party as an annoyance or a ridiculous character or an admired and feared one, but not as, like, a declared enemy of american democracy. >> i keep coming back to something the historian barbara carroll once said, the power doesn't corrupt as much as it reveals. it has revealed a lot of the people i served within congress who i once admired and respected because i believed they believed what they were saying. it turns at all they really believe in is the appearance of power and pursuit of power, the retention of power. what it says in the constitution just doesn't matter. it doesn't matter enough, in any event. they know exactly who trump is, just as democrats know exactly who trump is.
