Inside Miley Cyrus' exuberant Los Angeles home -- designed by her mother

Inside Miley Cyrus' exuberant Los Angeles home -- designed by her mother
Written by Allyssia Alleyne, CNN
When it came time for Miley Cyrus to decorate the 6,800-square-foot Los Angeles home she bought last year, the singer looked to one of the people who knows her best: Her mother and manager, Tish Cyrus.
"My mom's best quality as a mom and as an interior designer is her understanding and non-judgment," Miley told Architectural Digest in an online exclusive.
"Anything I dream she will create into a reality, even if it isn't her style. She designs for her kids -- I am not the only one that uses my mom as an interior designer, all five of us do -- the same way she nurtures us. She just wants what's best for us, creating spaces that reflect us is what's best for our mental health, our creativity, our songwriting."

At Paris Fashion Week, Coperni transforms a colossal arena into a drive-in runway
Over the past year, fashion collections have been shown primarily through video and ultra-limited, socially distanced live presentations due to the ongoing pandemic. Now, a drive-in runway show can be added to the fashion world's creative workarounds thanks to French fashion brand Coperni.
On Thursday, during Paris Fashion Week, Coperni co-founders Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant ushered in a fleet of 36 cars carrying 70 guests into the 20,100-seat AccorHotels Arena in Paris. Drivers used their headlights to illuminate models walking down between them in the brand's autumn-winter 2021 collection.

Cicely Tyson was an early champion of Black beauty
Cicely Tyson, the award-winning, trailblazing African American actor, died on Thursday, at the age of 96. Over her lifetime, she became an icon, known for personifying layered and complex Black women on the screen and the stage, notably starring as the wife of a jailed sharecropper family in 1972's "Sounder," for which she earned her first Oscar nomination; and as a former slave in "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman" in 1974, for which she won two Emmy awards, among other performances. But her impact extended well beyond her choice of roles.

America's fashion industry was given a boost of confidence on inauguration day as President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and First Lady Jill Biden attended the day's events wearing looks from the country's designers.
Harris stepped out in a purple dress and coat by Christopher John Rogers, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The winner of the 2019 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award, Rogers is one of the most buzzed-about young Black designers working today, having dressed former FLOTUS Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Rihanna. While Rogers is best known for his use of bold colors and dramatic silhouettes, Harris went for more pared-down look, in line with her usual, more minimal sensibilities.

Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman's jewelry carried powerful significance

Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez may have been the headline acts of President Joe Biden's inauguration, but it was 22-year-old Amanda Gorman, the first national youth poet laureate, who delivered the event's true standout performance.
Gorman, who became the youngest poet to read at an inauguration ceremony, moved dignitaries in attendance and viewers at home with her reading "The Hill We Climb," her powerful poem calling for togetherness as America enters a new chapter. But she also caused a buzz with her vibrant outfit, which channeled the optimism of the occasion, and the jewelry she wore, though small on television screens, carried touching personal sentiment.

The untold story of Ann Lowe, the Black designer behind Jackie Kennedy's wedding dress

The untold story of Ann Lowe, the Black designer behind Jackie Kennedy's wedding dress
By: CNN
Allyssia Alleyne, CNN
(CNN) -- Some 800 guests saw the dress at the ceremony at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Newport, Rhode Island, and 400 more watched it glide through the reception that evening. And then there were the 3,000 well-wishers who broke through police barricades to witness Jacqueline Lee Bouvier's arrival at her wedding to then Sen. John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
A photo of the newlyweds ran on the front page of The New York Times on September 13, 1953. But the grainy black-and-white shot, the bride half obscured by her husband, couldn't do justice to the bouffant skirtand the layers of silk taffeta, the intricate scallop pintucks and tiny flowers of wax -- a fitting choice for the woman who would go on to become American royalty.
