SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- According to an ABC7 I-Team analysis of state and federal records, many private schools in the Bay Area received more per student compared to public schools since the pandemic began.
Our team analyzed data provided from the California Department of Education to track the amount of state and federal COVID-19 relief money going to public schools. For private schools, we calculated the amount of funding received through the Paycheck Protection Program.

As President Joe Biden signed Democrats' $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill into law Thursday afternoon, Republicans falsely claimed the bill only bails out "blue states" at the expense of "red states" — but the landmark legislation will deliver massive funding and relief to many deep-red states.

President Joe Biden will visit Milwaukee on Tuesday and participate in a CNN town hall at the Pabst Theater. It’s the first official trip for the president as the administration looks to capitalize on messaging after former President Donald Trump's impeachment trial concluded Saturday. “We’re excited to go to Wisconsin – out in the middle of the country – and hear from folks who agree with our ideas and maybe some folks who don’t agree with our ideas,” Deputy White House Communications Director Kate Berner said.CNN said the audience will consist of Democrats, Republicans and independents for the hour-long town hall that will be hosted by Anderson Cooper. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said Monday the event has met the COVID-19 requirements set by the city. Barrett plans to meet Biden at the airport upon his arrival and also make his case for more vaccines. “Without a doubt the supply issue is the biggest issue,” Barrett said. “I think he understands this. I think he’s committed to it, but I’m certainly going to put an exclamation point on it any opportunity I can get.” This week Biden will travel to Wisconsin and Michigan, two battleground states he narrowly won, in an effort to build support for his $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package.“The president has been meeting with Democratic members of Congress and Republican members of Congress, he’s been meeting with Democratic mayors and Republican mayors and governors to get their feedback,” Berner said. “Most importantly we’re excited and proud of the bipartisan support the American Rescue Plan has from the American public.”
