Their minds too. i was talking to governor bullock and you have until march 9 to declare your candidacy for senate. but it seems like if he is after the very issues that he is stumping upon, that would make a lot of sense because those issues legislatively will be stopped in the senate. but if you you are governor bullock, if you think you make it into the fourth debate in october, which could happen, you are looking to see does joe biden stumble a little bit so you can pick up some of that moderate oxygen and look like a viable candidate. once you start showing a hint that you may might step away. he s done. so i think that is smart strategy. and i think beto o rourke is facing a problem that he has to make a decision by january and he has a lot of cash on hand. so for democrats, they have to put their game plan together as a group, as a collaborative, because there certainly is a way to potentially make it more competitive in the senate.
On the previous debate stage and i wonder, does she play the sort of i m with sanders, we re going to jointly go after everybody else or is she going to stake out individual ground for herself. i think someone like cory booker, julian castro may find their opportunities to make digs against the frontrunner. as we look at the bottom of the polling, you were both discussing this last week, kristin gillibrand, senator from new york saying okay, i have thrown in the towel, i m done. the two of you are saying her staffers are saying you should do that. what does that say about those that are in d.c., those who are senators, congress members, many not doing well, some doing okay. if you re senator bennett from colorado, things are starting to look tough for you right now. what s your lane. whereas i think governor bullock from montana can afford to stay in a lot longer.
They re having. when we talked to tom perez before the first set of debates, he said that he was kind of comfortable in the referee role. that in this very crowded field someone was going to have to call balls and strikes. at one point kirsten gillibrand did have a pretty good war chest. i think she burned through a lot of it. but the point is that there are other candidates, michael bennet and others who are facing the same issue who are not making the debate stage who have a little bit more money. money buys you time to somehow find a way to catch fire. i think for bennet and bullock in particular, they hold special roles in this contest. they were late to enter, but they re also from the west. they have executive experience. they just have different segments of the democratic party. they ll probably hang in there a little bit longer. but even when you talk about the coverage of this contest now, you talk about it in terms of three candidates or maybe five candidates, right? it s biden, it s warren, it s bernie sanders, it s buttigieg
