the department of justice, he did not work for the attorney general, janet reno at the time. he was picked because he was a prominent attorney from outside of the united states government, from outside of the department of justice. that's how special counsels are supposed to work. and as you mentioned, the regulations that govern the department of justice specifically state that a special counsel is supposed to come from outside of the government. because remember, it's not just about making sure that the process is complete, come we e hencive and fair -- comprehensive and fair, it also has to have the proper appearance of or fairness. and again, here you have david weiss who literally works as an employee for the department of justice under merrick garland being picked by merrick garland, the hand-picked attorney general of joe biden to investigate joe biden's son. obviously, the optics don't look right here which is why you're supposed to, if you're the attorney general of the united states, look outside the the president of justice to -- the department of justice.
