lot of places, my husband's families from ohio, as you know well. why do you think the state has flipped your former destructive, much of the state has flipped to be more of a trump supporting state than a state that embraces what tim ryan, joe biden, and others have represented. >> well i will say this. i think that the democratic party in the state overtime has eroded. we need a more robust party in the state of ohio. it's not like pennsylvania, it's not like michigan or wisconsin. we have some work to do, we have new leaders. i think we're moving in the right direction. we didn't have that off your democratic party that could help with turnout. when a non presidential year, we've got four, over 400,000 crossover voters that voted for me, and voted for the republican governor. this is really unheard of in modern politics to see that level of crossover. we didn't get the base turnout. i think sheriff brown's running

got over 400,000 crossover voters who voted for me, and who voted for the republican governor. it is really unheard of in modern politics, to see that level of crossover. we did not get the base turnout. i think that brown is running next year, he's going to have a presidential level turnout. he will get the crossover appeal. i think that i got that as well, and so i think that it is still a swing state in a lot of ways. you just have to build the party back up. >> congressman tim ryan, i need to come visit you in ohio. thank you so much for joining me this afternoon. coming, up ahead of the one area anniversary of the inflation reduction act, republicans are taking victory laps for people -- something they voted against. i've got a few thoughts on the blatant hypocrisy, and what it tells us about the political moment that we are living in. later, why did good safety activists join a shooting club in harvard? that surprised me to. we discuss that and much more during the walk through washington. we're back after a quick break. break our laundry smelling fresh waaaay longer

line. beto did a great job of turning out the turnout but it wasn't enough. now you've got to win the crossover voters. he seems like the type of guy that could do it. i think this is more realistic than some efforts we've seen from democrats in red states. >> i mean, beto only lost by two points in 2018. there were a lot of former bush people watching the district sort of -- the precincts around houston and dallas come in and thought that beto might do it. so to tim's point, to his many brilliant points, we'll deal with ted cruz in a minute. i want to talk about allred. i want to show you more of his ad. >> my boys are fifth generation texans. they'll learn that this state is full of generous people who look out for each other. where if you work hard and play by the rules, you can get ahead. that's how a working class kid raised by a single mom can make it to the nfl, law school, and even congress.

democrats. it's what ronald reagan did. he appealed to crossover voters. that's what we have do. we have lost seven out of eight popular votes. with we lost a lot of races last year. before that we lost the house and the senate and the white house. so i have a lot to share with some:0 our friends in the party, some of my colleagues running in the race and how you have to not just fire up the base, but you have to find a way to appeal to other voters. i left the blue estate in the country with a 77% approval rating, which is high among blocks, independents, democrats and republicans. we have to have a message to appeal to more people if we want to govern. we can't just keep losing elections. >> neil: that would be a big selling point to a republican nominee in 2024. maybe looking to solidify someone with a running made.

What Georgia's 2022 runoff can teach us about the 2024 White House race | John A. Tures

Several years ago, several “Eat This, Not That” books took America by storm, dispelling a lot of myths about our eating habits, giving us smarter diets.  Here’s a similar version, based upon lessons from the 2022 Georgia Election and Runoff, which can help candidates prepare for the 2024 election and avoid myths from prior ballot contests.

not be a close race. i know a lot of people feel that way but the reality is that it is a close race because of the realities on the ground. i think people want to believe george's truly purple but it is a recovering right place as a like to say. what are the prospects of these numbers taken out on election day? are republicans going to turn out for herschel walker, given that camp is not on the ballot? that the senate is not in the balance here? >> let's amount i think if you look at the elections from the midterms, you saw a significant percent of what we call crossover voters are split voters. this is the people who voted for, count the republicans have been decided for senator warnock and democrat. i have not seen any trends that would lead me to believe that that standard is going to change, somehow during the special election. it ultimately becomes which of the two candidates can turn out a significant amount of their original voters. also the split photos which i

lawler is a perfect example of that. five democrats flipped red seats to blue. republicans did better than lake but lawler said i don't buy into the conspiracy that the election was stolen and distanced himself from trump. he did focus on what really mattered more than inflation in that district specifically and it was crime. he was very moderate regarding abortion. what we saw whether it was the state of new hampshire we had crossover voters. the bottom line is the voters didn't like extremists whether on the left or on the right and lawler benefited from that. >> he spoke to everyone. i saw him on a lot of different networks talking to a lot of different publications trying to get his message out. president biden ringing in his 80th birthday making him the oldest commander-in-chief in our nation's history. it comes amid questions about a potential biden 2024 run. pressure is mounting on the

a very dangerous existential election in 2024. if you have a kari lake who says i'm not going to certify electors, if the secretary of state in nevada says i'm not going to certify lectors. >> or the argument obama made, yeah. all so true. i don't know if you're making me feel calmer or more nervous as hell. when we come back, we have been covering the growing spector of voter intimidation on this program for weeks now. thousand that election day is here, what we're seeing around the country as voters go to the polls and what we need to be concerned about as votes are counted. that story is next. plus, we'll hear from a congressman from arizona on how democrats there are working to defeat the folks that david jolly is talking about, election defying republicans in a state that's ground zero for the ex-president's big lie. and coming up, the big show,
